Images

[edit]

The colours are a little weird on the images in this, compared to the originals at the BnF. What's going on? Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.8% of all FPs 13:39, 17 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps my computer. Happy if you can improve them. I am not expert in images. Tim riley talk 15:45, 17 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Let's talk images

[edit]

I'm not 100% convinced on the current image choice, so let me run through the possibilities.

For the lead image, I'm kind of leaning towards https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b531457003/f1.item.r=Gillette%20de%20Narbonne.zoom - it's a poster advertising the opera, it shows pretty good illustrations of several actors, it's contemporary, and - unlike most of the BnF's Gillette things, it isn't weirdly cut out with scissors into bizarre shapes.

As for the rest, top non-photographic contenders are:

As for the photos... Well, there aren't THAT many, but there's lots of variations, so let's start by figuring out what we have.

  • Chateauneuf – Mme. Rivero (don't we have links for anyone in the cast list? I'd like to try to identify any prominent actors and actresses for whom the photos could do double duty, but the few linked names are linked elsewhere) Six images, two more zoomed out, four zoomed in, all pretty similar:

[1] [2] [3] [4][5] [6]

  • Roger - Morlet Two images, looking in different directions [7][8]
  • Albert Piccaluga, probably as Roger (He sang "A mes regards..." for a recording, and that's a song for Roger, and a couple of the not-that-much-after-première illustrations look more like him than Morlet, so...) [9] [10][11] [12]

I think it's clear that Roger and Gillette are the two most important; Chateauneuf seems a little random of an addition, especially as they don't appear until the third act! I'd say get the première cast, and maybe do Piccaluga and Rivero for Albert Piccaluga and whatver Rivero's article is, but not here?

I presume Rivero MUST have been important, given how many photographs of her there are. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.8% of all FPs 15:32, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Happy to leave the choice of pictures to you. Tim riley talk 16:15, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
