Gheorghe Popescu (footballer, born 1967) → Gheorghe Popescu – Gheorghe Popescu is the name of two footballers. This one is the clear primary topic, being one of Romania's most important players ever. The pagemove to "footballer, born 1967" is only a year old and happened without discussion, and as you can infer I believe it was a good-faith action but ultimately misguided. Oppose - page views are irrelevant, there is no PRIMARYTOPIC here, the other Gheorghe Popescu had a significant career as player and manager. GiantSnowman18:03, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
On what grounds are you opposing? WP:Primary topic says A topic is primary for a term with respect to usage if it is highly likely—much more likely than any other single topic, and more likely than all the other topics combined—to be the topic sought when a reader searches for that term. This is the clear primary topic, page views are 30x higher Kowal2701 (talk) 18:39, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe the opposition is per long-term significance? On the Romanian wiki, the other footballer is named Gheorghe Popescu I, which sure feels like a name given to footballer royalty. He managed Romania's national team and was the President of the Romanian Football Federation. That didn't make him significant in the history of Romanian football? wbm1058 (talk) 19:41, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They both have the same long term significance as ex footballers. Per policy, this’d be primary topic, no disrespect to the other guy. Could bold move the other guy to what Romanian wiki calls him? Kowal2701 (talk) 20:48, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support. No brainer really, the 1967 footballer is one of the all-time world-class greats, he leads in both long-term significance and page views. This should never have been moved in the first place. — Amakuru (talk) 14:49, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
