German ostrubel → German ostruble – Yes, the bills do say "[number] Rubel", but beyond that, there are little (non-OR) sources regarding how this former currency should be spelt. Therefore, in the interest of article title stability, I propose to move this page back to its former, stable title at "German ostruble", used from 2006 to 2022. Thank you. - Leaning oppose on this, because ostrubel is a legitimate German compound, while "ostruble" appears to be a made-up "Deutschlish" chimera. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 20:13, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
- Strong oppose why deliberately misspell something? In ictu oculi (talk) 09:42, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
- Oswald Lehnich Währung und Wirtschaft in Polen, Litauen, Lettland und Estland 1923 "Gelangte der schwankende russische Rubel auf einen Kurs von 2 Mark , sodass in diesem Augenblick ein russischer Rubel gleich einem Ostrubel war , dann war der Wechsel der Währung Doch sprachen während des noch besonders vereinfacht ." - Oppose and move to simple Ostrubel, which already redirects here. No need for "German". -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:30, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- Relisting comment: Thoughts on moving to Ostrubel instead? Extraordinary Writ (talk) 01:42, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
- Move to Ostrubel. Ostruble would be a second choice. Current disambiguation is unnecessary. It's possible that a case can be made for changing the spelling, but none has been made yet. Andrewa (talk) 11:49, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- Support - a check of sources (something the "oppose" votes above seem to have completely neglected to do) suggests that the proposed title is indeed the WP:COMMONNAME. See for example [1][2][3] I see very few English sources using the "Ostrubel" spelling. It may seem "wrong" to some, but that's our job to determine. Neutral on whether it shoulid be German ostruble or just plain Ostruble. — Amakuru (talk) 14:36, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- Note as well, that the title was stable at German ostruble until a bold undiscussed move two months ago. This should have just been straight-up reverted. — Amakuru (talk) 14:38, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- Relisting comment: One more relist to consider Amakuru's comments. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 07:54, 22 November 2022 (UTC)
- Reject Amakuru's reasons, sorry no justification for a deliberate misspelling. No need to relist. Nom has failed. In ictu oculi (talk) 18:09, 23 November 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose. Examples of sources using Ostrubel: [4], [5], [6], [7]. I think usage is divided, if not in favor of ostrubel, and the word is largely unassimilated into English. Adumbrativus (talk) 08:38, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
