Comments
[edit]Hi, I noticed the request for comments at Wikipedia talk:Verifiability. So here they come:
- The whole article looks like it's been copied out of somewhere else - and therefore risks conflict with WP:COPYVIO.
- There are no supporting references. You're already aware of this issue, as you posted a query at Wikipedia talk:Verifiability. The first step is to understand WP:Verifiability (summary:it must be possible to verify all statements, so you must cite reliable sources; except for totally uncontroversial statements like "the sun normally rises in the east") and WP:Reliable sources (what counts as a reliable source). By the way, if in doubt about whether something is a reliable source, you can ask at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard. Then you need to know how to format citations - see Wikipedia:Citation templates.
- The whole article is one big lump, which makes it hard to read. Articles are supposed to have a standard structure, see Wikipedia:Layout. Within the main content, you need to break that up into coherent sections. For good advice on that and other aspects of writing, see Web Style Guide.
- To check up on how well you are doing, look at Wikipedia:Good article criteria.
- This is a lot for a new editor to handle, so I suggest you ask for advice from people with experience of similar subjects - possibly at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Nursing and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Medicine. --Philcha (talk) 18:05, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Major issues, sources, target audience, poss copyvio
[edit]This article has major issues. First is sourcing. Second is it is written to a specific audience. I have concern it may be copy/paste. This subject has significant coverage in reliable sources. The article needs a full rewrite to make it an encyclopedic article on the subject. - - MrBill3 (talk) 07:31, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
Suggested revisions
[edit]The note on this page suggest that the article may need to be completely rewritten.
I propose revising the page to include references and a more complete description of gerontological nursing (previously known as geriatric nursing). (See: Gerontological nursing sandbox). Feedback here or on the talk page of the sandbox would be welcome.
The page currently is mostly content about diseases that are common in older age. These are well covered on their own separate pages and they don't seem to be central to understanding what gerontological nursing is. Thus, they probably don't need to be on this page in any detail.
I propose moving/renaming the page to Gerontological Nursing. The reason is that this term replaced the term Geriatric Nursing beginning in the 1970's (see: Touhy, Theris A.; Jett, Kathleen F. (2014). Ebersole and Hess' gerontological nursing & healthy aging (4th ed.). St. Louis, Mo.: Elsevier/Mosby. ISBN 9780323096065.)

- I moved my suggested new content to the page. I also renamed/moved the page to "Gerontological nursing" from "Geriatric nursing". As a new editor, suggestions and comments would be welcome.
