Proclamation 6158 Decade of the Brain
In the neuroscience community, Bush's July 18, 1990, Decade of the Brain proclamation is considered a notable achievement by Bush, as a successful effort to increase funding and awareness of brain research. Per the sources, I would like to propose adding it to his biography as one of his many bipartisan achievements.[1] Viriditas (talk) 04:18, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
Only thing he is haunted by
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0312/20/cp.00.html Bush told Paula Zahn on CNN that he's haunted by the fact that the other 2 guys on his fighter both died and he didn't. He thinks god saved him or something. He makes ZERO mention of the pilots of the other 8-9 fighters who would have been guys he slept, ate and worked with on a daily basis getting eaten by Japanese so that claim can be put down as BS and removed. 97.95.236.159 (talk) 15:52, 15 April 2015 (UTC)Thank you. 97.95.236.159 (talk) 15:52, 15 April 2015 (UTC)
Several Pilots beheaded and eaten by Japanese - no citation remove it
I have reviewed several papers regarding the "war crimes" trials held against the Japanese & cannot find anything to back up this statement. I found plenty of questions about it and even the Int'l Jour of Naval Hist says possibly 1 time this happened BUT all these accusations are suspect due to the zealousness of the prosecution and the simply fact that "victor's revenge" rules the day. Since the US has never been held accountable for its numerous war crimes and crimes against humanity over the past 200+ yrs then leaving in this highly suspect claim just to make HW look like he was touched by an angel is flatly wrong. The US put Americans in concentration camps because they had Japanese ancestry and then manage to get one Japanese officer to "confess" to eating 2 US pilots body parts? Seriously Wiki editors, HW has not been president for over 20 years so this claim needs to be removed from his wiki page as it has nothing to do with him and is unsubstantiated. Even if you were to find something other than a claim by a zealot prosecutor, it still has nothing to do with HW as he spent a mere 4 hours in the water while the supposed other 8 pilots were captured and eaten according to HW's wiki entry. Lemme see here - oh yeah, don't the Christians accuse Jews of eating newborns and the Native Americans of "atrocities" etc etc? This is one of many things I have noticed in various wiki entries that is highly suspect and the reason I think wiki is manipulated by certain individuals.97.95.236.159 (talk) 15:40, 15 April 2015 (UTC)

"In the wake of a weak recovery from an economic recession, along with continuing budget deficits, he lost the 1992 presidential election to Democrat Bill Clinton"
Please change the above sentence to read:
In the wake of a weak recovery from an economic recession, along with continuing budget deficits and the third party candidacy of Ross Perot, he lost the 1992 presidential election to Democrat Bill Clinton
Includes: and the third party candidacy of Ross Perot 150.137.2.91 (talk) 22:17, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

Under the Second Term as VP section presents opinion as fact
In the section about his second term as VPOTUS it claims that he was at a disadvantage during the VP debates because he was ivy league educated and less liked by female journalists since he wasn't a women. I get that some voters may be turned off by the fact that he is ivy educated, just as I'm sure others would think it made him better qualified; my point is that there is not adequate evidence to claim that his ivy league education put him at a disadvantage in the debates.
The part about him being disliked by female journalists is even more troubling to me, first because most journalist in that time period were male so even if the assertion were true I doubt it would have put him at much of a disadvantage, but as it stands the assertion is made without citing a source (probably because the assertion lacks proof). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.129.192.85 (talk) 00:26, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

Undated photograph with Eisenhower
Why is this picture here? It's in the section about the years between 1967-1970, 7 years after Ike was out of office and only covering the last two years before his death. There is no mention of his involvement with Eisenhower or the Eisenhower administration anywhere in the section or the rest of the article. In fact, there is no mention that he was involved in politics during Ike's presidency. It is also undated and I was unable to find a date for it in a Google image search. Is it possible for a photo to add "less" information to an article?
It should be removed.InformationvsInjustice (talk) 04:52, 4 August 2016 (UTC)

He was known as President George Bush when he served, not George H.W Bush so shouldn't the name reflect that. I mean John Adams name was retroactively changed when his son became president. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.192.103.31 (talk) 17:09, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
Lead section
I don't know why the introduction is five paragraphs long. Major points to introduce the guy to readers: he has a son with the same first name, he was not well known until his VP tenure with then-President Reagan, Bush became the president until the election against Clinton, he was nearly assassinated, and he has another son who ran unsuccessfully for presidency. The introduction needs a rewrite and some trimmings. --George Ho (talk) 18:37, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
- I was actually just thinking that the lead doesn't have enough information. It shouldn't get much longer than it currently is, true - but more should be said about Bush's policies in the lead, such as his negotiating NAFTA. --Jpcase (talk) 21:22, 31 August 2016 (UTC)

1st line of article reads, and is obviously wrong. The 1st line makes the 43 president the president BEFORE the 41st president
"George Herbert Walker Bush (born June 12, 1924) is an American politician who was the 41st President of the United States from 1989 to 1993 and the 43rd Vice President of the United States from 1981 to 1989."
Shouldn't it read?
"George Herbert Walker Bush (born June 12, 1924) is an American politician who was the 41st President of the United States from 1981 to 1993 and the father of George W. Bush, the 43rd Vice President of the United States from 2001 to 2009" Zoomastr (talk) 20:14, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
