New article
[edit]Whoops, I actually went through all the trouble of creating this new article from scratch before noticing the sign above that mentions a discussion about the redirect. I think the page as it is now proves that geohashing is well worth an article in its own, rather than to be a mere redirect to xkcd, but I don't want to break any wikipedia protocol. Maybe we can re-open the discussion? Tdlille (talk) 18:21, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
Geohashing
[edit]I enjoy this concept. If would have TRULY enjoyed it more before smart phones made it too easy. If all the elements ie: date/Dow etc etc etc and clues weren't so easy to figure, all done usually from within one app, i would LOVE it. I still enjoy third BUT it would have been better atop a bucking mare, water flask in hand alongside a map, compass and ,well, motivation. Still a good game. 2020 The Wiki is Off-Line
[edit]After a security breach, the wiki was taken off line with no indication if it would ever get restored. It would be cool to rescue this project even if its popularity was in decline. --Sourcerer — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nbauers (talk • contribs) 02:55, 10 February 2020 (UTC)
- The wiki came back.
- The Geohashing wiki's account of the downtime and the result of it is at https://geohashing.site/geohashing/Dark_Ages; this Wikipedia page should probably be updated as some parts of its information e.g. number of active users are doubtless out-of-date. I probably shouldn't be the one to do it as I host/admin geohashing.site and so am not really impartial. - Avapoet (talk) 18:58, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
