I would like to inform that the editing of my link (www.panamadata.co.nr) was added since it was I who put the theory of formation on the page and think that the reference should be cited. Look at the History of the page for proof I edited this.

Lengths of Land Borders

[edit]

I haven't regularly edited any Wikipedia pages for, like, a decade, so would rather leave this for someone who "knows what they're doing" -- understands current Wikipedia editing culture, etc. But: I've noticed that the given lengths of Panama's land borders in this page, or at least the Colombia border, is incorrect. Doing some research, I first noticed that the number given here (225km) was inconsistent with that given on the Geography of Colombia page (339km). Pulling out my GIS software, I've concluded that the larger figure is (closer to being) correct (I actually calculated closer to 349, but whatever -- 225 is definitely wrong). This number seems to have been around since the article was first pulled over from the old Wikipedia engine back in 2002, and I guess just no-one noticed? Possibly it was supposed to be 225 miles at one point (with some rounding, that's kindasorta close) and the units accidentally got set to metric without the appropriate conversion? I didn't check the Costa Rica border length, but it at least seems consistent-ish with the number given on Geography of Costa Rica. Unsure how to change this and include proper citations etc. (since I confirmed with original research) but hoping there's someone around who can do so? 68.147.61.44 (talk) 09:58, 19 March 2016 (UTC)Sean Nichols[reply]
