Additional Information
[edit]Could someone add information about the digital short messaging and location services that are now permitted on GMRS handhelds? Also, GMRS radios are allowed to have detachable, interchangeable, and remote antennas, except that they must have permanently fixed antennas if they have digital capabilities. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.130.184.43 (talk) 04:28, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
Part 95 Update
[edit]Just a quick note that this page will need to be significantly updated soon if the proposed changes to 47 CFR 95 are passed in the FCC's mid-May 2017 vote. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jbowman90 (talk • contribs) 17:05, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
- The update has changed the regulation numbering, meaning none of the linked references or other citations to the CFRs work. For instance, there is no 95.179, or any other Part 95 numbers below 95.299 or in the 600s. The proper reference for GMRS license eligibility appears to be 95.1705, which includes "family" (95.1705(c)), "grandfathering" (95.1705(g)) and "cooperative use" by other than family members, with written agreements (95.1705(f)). Note on "Frequency table" section
[edit]Note: The "Frequency table" section requires ref footnotes instead of just text footnotes. See my invis comment in that section. Urban Versis 32KB ⚡ (talk / contribs) 15:43, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
Recent GMRS Linked repeater shut downs
[edit]Recently the FCC updated their wordings regarding linked repeaters. Two of the biggest systems in the US in New York and Texas have now shut their linked systems down due to the FCC update. Just a quick note in the talk page, might add to article later. https://www.fcc.gov/wireless/bureau-divisions/mobility-division/general-mobile-radio-service-gmrs. Fees
[edit]This Wikipedia article says: "The fee was reduced to $35 for all applicants on April 19, 2022.", and there's a link to a PDF. I stepped through all 163 occurrences of "$" in that document, and not a single one is for a $35 fee. What is this sentence in reference to? 2601:602:8D00:5C61:67D4:2166:7FE6:8BBF (talk) 05:58, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
