All of this is on the Gemini page, in the Astrology section. Does it merit a separate article? TrianaC 03:16, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Notable People
I think the "notable people born under the sign" section should be split up between western and sidereal astrologies. I say this because someone put Johnny Depp as a Taurus, meanwhile his birthday is June 9, which since I go by western dates, I consider him a Gemini...--Tainted Drifter 06:46, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
In case you're wondering what's happened to the Notable persons section, it has been deleted in favor of the page Category:Subjects of the Sign of Gemini. If you want to add a notable person go there. --Carmelita 21:03, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
(I'm gonna cross-post this): there is absolutely no need to have a "notable persons" section. What about cuspers (people born between two signs), what would they be? If they went under both that'd take up more space. You can't list EVERY single person ever born under one sign. If you want to know what a famous person's zodiac sign or birthday is, just look up their separate article on Wikipedia. If they are famous, they should be on Wikipedia. So yeah, I'm taking out the notable persons section and I'm warning people not to readd it.
Also, I don't think it should say "this sign is compatible with ____, ____, and ___" because that's like bending NPOV. 75.27.185.204 03:06, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
Just as a comment on the above, I don't see how you can't figure out what sign a cusper would have. Everyone's born on a different date and therefore would take up the sign of the date they were born on. For instance, someone born on the cusp of Gemini-Cancer, June 20th, is still a Gemini. Likewise, if they're born on June 21st, they're still a Cancer. Easy enough? Spumonianderson 04:57, 27 March 2007 (PST)
Just to throw in my two cents: As a person who's studied Astrology to a high degree since the second grade, there is a general consensus amongst professional astrologers that cusps between signs do not exist. There is an exact degree, minute, and second at which a planet, luminary, asteroid, or angle transits from one sign to the next. Cusps are used solely in reference to the House system. Thus, a person's Sun sign is never said to "be on the cusp of Taurus and Gemini". Their Sun placement, however, may be on the cusp of the Seventh and Eighth Houses. Additionally, regarding the "fixed" dates of the beginning and ending of the Sun's yearly transit through each sign: they don't exist. Generally, the Sun will transit from one sign to the next between the nineteenth and the twenty-third of each month, but the precise date, hour, and minute vary from year to year due to slight eccentricities in the Earth's orbit. The date of the twenty-first is just an average of the mean and median of the date at which most Solar transits occur. SumeragiNoOnmyouji 09:20, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
End Dates
Gemini's end date was changed from June 20th to June 21st, I have friends that were born on June 21st that are considered Geminis, accept the facts and move on with life....

Notable people, discussion part 2
I disagree with the edit summary that I'm the only one removing it, as the previous discussion above explicitly states that it's been removed before, one person agreed with that decision and I have shown by my actions that I concur. But all that aside, I contend that the only people who might possibly be listed are those who are notable for actually BEING a Gemini, rather than notable people who happen to be Gemini. Anything less renders their inclusion as nothing more than trivia. Given that every real, notable person has an astrological sign, a list is either highly subjective or bound to grow to immense proportions that overshadow the true subject of the article. Pairadox (talk) 02:04, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. 1/12 of humanity belongs to each sign - we have over 100,000 notable people listed in this encyclopedia, which could mean that at least 8,000 notables were born under any one sign. That's too many to even include in a category, much less a list. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 02:30, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- Pairadox, I have found your editing style on the various pages, user talk pages and here needlessly bullying and aggressive contrary to consensus building. I have done nothing but try to improve these articles and even in trying to have a reasoned discussion on your deleting entire sections without prior discussion and against what appears to be consensus to include them as is evidence by their existence before your deletions, you have redirected all the pages here instead. My statement is over on the Aries talk page where I felt it was appropriate. I'm not interested in battling you and given my brief but tumultuous interactions with you thus far I have doubts as to the article's improving in a manner I would want to be a part of. Good luck. Disagree in some claims in this article
It seems there are some people very biased that add traits or making claims without citations. I deleted almost anything that does not have citations as it is obviously just biased opinion and not astrogical facts.

Different
This page is different from the others, and it very biased by having a section called negative qualities, while the other signs do not.
I noticed that the signs fall into two categories on Wikipedia. Some describe ancient Greek myths, while the others describe only the personality traits to be expected in a person born under the sign -- though this still falls under Mythology! Why the difference? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.130.3.164 (talk) 01:18, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

"Also known as Ivbal and Iabal"
Ivbal and Iabal, if I'm not mistaken, are the Latin names of Jubal and Jabal, aren't they? I can't find it in the citation, and it isn't mentioned on the page for Castor and Pollux, so I'm going to remove it, since it seems too much a coincidence to be true. Two for Two, I wanted to comment on your beliefs in Gemini's, first things, when you stated that Gemini's are brave and loyal, no doubt! Incomplete thought
See paragraph beginning "Correspondingly." Last sentence reads: For this reason, though praised for being quick and clever. This is a fragment and does not make sense. Being a Gemini myself, I'd be interested in seeing what the rest of the thought was. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kgbradham (talk • contribs) 16:28, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Possible vandalism.
Can't figure out how to remove the "IM THE BEST!" vandalism at the end of the first section, since there is no edit link for said section. Hopefully someone more wikixperienced will notice this and take care of it. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.161.120.254 (talk) 19:45, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
Elaborate
Wikipedia's astrological sign sections are fairly brief. There is massive amounts of information out there on all of the signs. It doesn't even mention the negative qualities of Gemini. There are colors, stones and minerals, plants, etc. that are associated with all of the signs. This mentions none of them. It could also list some notable Gemenis. There seems to be much omitted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.142.172.27 (talk) 06:19, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
I think the pre-Hellenistic Meaning of Lovers instead of "Twins" should be mentioned
The Babylonian and Indian traditions of Astrology that were brought into Greece saw the Gemini constellation as lovers, not twins. I would like to see information about that added to the article. And before anyone suggests it, no I will not be taking part in the cliquish bullshit going on behind the scenes here myself. So I will not be editing the article.
Here is some information to get started with if anyone else wants to do this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maithuna#Main_Significations_for_Maithuna

Corrections to dates, date and citation format in sign articles
I have created a module which encapulates values for the dates the Sun enters and exits the various signs; the data is taken from the U.S. Naval Observatory's Multiyear Interactive Computer Almanac and covers 2015 through most of 2050. The Template:Zodiac date produces some erroneous results, so I hope to implement the change this week.
It is only practical to implement one date and citation style for the module and infobox, so it would be helpful if we can agree on what format to use for the various sign articles. Please discuss at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Astrology#Corrections to dates, date and citation format in sign articles. Jc3s5h (talk) 20:52, 23 March 2016 (UTC)
Redirection of Western Zodiac signs
On 22 October 2012 the contents of the articles for the individual signs of the western zodiac (Pisces (astrology) etc.) were removed and replaced with redirects to Astrological sign#Western zodiac signs. These edits were made by User:Dominus Vobisdu with the edit summary: Unsourced and unsourceable cruft. No justification for stand-alone article. This did not seem to follow a community discussion.
Following concerns raised at the Reference Desk I will, after posting this, restore the articles to the form they were in immediately before their redirection. At least some of the articles seem to have been significantly reduced in size also prior to this redirection, however I have not reverted these changes.
Because I am sure editors may wish to discuss this (perhaps to reinstate the redirects, or make other changes to these articles), however a discussion spread among the talk pages twelve articles in question would be too dissipated, I suggest Talk:Astrological_sign#Redirection_of_Western_Zodiac_signs as a centralised discussion location. An editor with more experience than I in Wikipedia policies may wish to move this discussion to a better location. LukeSurl t c 15:20, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Notable People from History born when the Sun was in Gemini
Please see the discussion on the Aries talk page regarding the suggestion that the list of notable persons should only include historical names (no living persons) and should not extend beyond 20 names. Currently the Gemini list has 12 entries:
Arthur Conan Doyle, Anne Frank, Che Guevara, John F. Kennedy, James Clerk Maxwell, Marilyn Monroe, Peter the Great, Tsar of Russia, Vincent Price, Igor Strawinsky, Queen Victoria I of England, John Wayne, and Tho mas Young . get it rightPlease use this section to propose additions or amendments to the main article content. -- Zac Δ talk! 13:43, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

Gemini Symbol
I was just playing with the US Microsoft Corporation Windows Utilities Paint drawing application/program that my daughter taught me. I have seen my printer open files using the paint.exe as a default program. I did see a computer station in her pre-kindergarten classroom. I did not my daughter teach her how to use the Paint application. I was surprised that she knew how to use the program. She drew pictures. I took dictation, typing in the words that I heard her saying as she stood behind me. Later, she began adding shapes to her drawing.
I was just trying to figure out how the arrow shape worked. It looks the same no matter how it is moved. However, it seems to correspond to the unit circle to a degree. The top is still the top line. It does not stop it's location. That does not make sense and sounds fuzzy.
However, the rotation from left to right looks like a straight line as opposed to two parallel lines. Recently, I was trying to draw correlations between the similarities of the astrological symbols, such as directional, mirror image, matching image, crossing over on itself, etc... and so for, such as, using in astrology and the zodiac charts for the sign Gemini. I noticed that my computer game "Chinese Solitaire" allows for new card faces and backgrounds. However, the astronomical constellations on the card decks do not seem to be an exact match for the symbols.
Looking forth at astronomy photos that are more accurate with regards to the constellations, they seem even more complex.
However, what I was thinking is there can be different perceptions of the same physical phenomenon.
I was wondering if there has ever existed the perception of the zodiac symbol for the astrology sign of Pisces in the calendar year using BC or AD time, between the time of the lunar/solar year June through July roughly starting with the 19th day and again through the 20th day. When an individual's nature birth is considered to have fallen very closely between two astrological signs, they may be referred to as a cusp or "cusp baby", and a bridge between segments of astrological divisions, of course, naturally and indeed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2000:E94B:5C00:FD04:93A2:68C0:13AD (talk) 01:16, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
One of the best compatible signs for Gemini is actually Sagittarius but that sign is not mentioned as a most compatible sign. Addition moved from article for discussion
In this edit the following claim was added:
- In sidereal astrology the sun transits Gemini from June 21 and July 16
No reliable source was provided for this claim. WP:V requires sources that are challenged be supported by a reliable source, and I'm challenging it. Links to other Wikipedia articles, such as "Sidereal astrology" are not considered citation of a reliable source, because Wikipedia is not a reliable source. Also, "Sidereal astrology" does not have a citation to support the dates in that article. Jc3s5h (talk) 02:26, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
A Note on Gemini in Hindu Astrology
In India, Gemini is called Mithuna ("the pair" or "the couple"), and it's seen not as a pair of twins but as a man and a woman in a sexual embrace.
An interesting idea. Tom129.93.17.139 18:27, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

- Wikipedia has a Verifiability policy which requires that information can be found in reliable sources. If a claim in an article is challenged, either someone adds a citation to a reliable source or it may be removed.
- The problem is that since astrology is a pseudoscience, the sources that are written as if astrology is true are not reliable. I don't know of any sources that give a good overview of astrology without expressing belief in astrology. Jc3s5h (talk) 02:39, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
- Why would astrology entries be any different from other Wikipedia articles about pseudoscience? The one on Homeopathy for example is about 10,000 pages long. It doesn't need to claim that Geminis ARE a certain way, but it's entirely reasonable to include something like "According to astrology practitioners, Geminis tend to demonstrate traits such as..." We can describe the belief without asserting that it's true. A source written as if astrology is true is not a reliable source of facts about the world, but it IS a reliable source for what followers of astrology believe. 97.99.47.11 (talk) 19:35, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
- A source written as if astrology is true is a good source for what the author of that one source believes. But if we want to write about what most astrology practitioners believe, we would have to find a source that has performed a trustworthy survey or literature review of practitioners. If the source itself believes in pseudoscience, that casts doubt on the sources ability to carry out a reliable survey or literature review. As for Wikipedia's "Homeopathy" article, I only skimmed it after seeing User:97.99.47.11's post, so I have no opinion about whether the editors managed to find a source that did a reliable survey of the topic.
