Overlooked ?

"The monastery is covered in arches that stretch over mountains." What can this mean apart from the literal meaning, which would be a Wonder of the World. And I'm not sure about archways in the belltower, which is unusual but realistic.

"The monastery still oversees Georgia and is a functioning church." implies some kind of supervisory function in the State Church, yet further down we read "The monastery was built in to overlook Georgia, and the stone walls were constructed to reflect sunlight." which I take to mean it was built on a tall hill to look impressive. The whole article reads like a machine translation and I've made a few obvious tweaks but have left the overlook/oversee ambiguity to someone who knows what they're doing. The whole first paragraph of the overview section seems to be simply copied, and poorly reworded, from the 6th source cited.
