Typo

Hi! I can't edit this article, so if someone who is able to could fix this typo in the last section, that would be great: "Egypt has been involved in discussion to provide humanitarian aid, but did not have any safe evacuation correidors set up as of October 11". "correidors" should be "corridors" Iamextremelygayokay (talk) 19:28, 17 October 2023 (UTC)

Renaming article

The "Evacuation of the northern Gaza Strip" can refer to more than one event. I thought it meant the 2006 evacuation of Dugit, Elei Sinai and Nisanit as part of the Israeli disengagement from Gaza. Please suggest a better name. DGtal (talk) 21:57, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

2023 was in the original article name but it got moved [1] almost a month back. CarmenEsparzaAmoux (talk) 20:36, 12 November 2023 (UTC)

This is regarding the Wikipedia page "Evacuation of the northern Gaza Strip" in the section titled "Attacks on evacuees: Gunfire attacks". It states: "Civilians reported Israeli soldiers open-firing, despite them waving white flags.[35]"

However, this Wikipedia information is different from the source and extrapolates unclear information. The source [35] did not state that civilians were fired on by Israeli sources while waving white flags. The source did say in the first paragraph: "civilians raised their hands and waved white flags to move past Israeli tanks." In the next paragraph of [35] the author stated: "Some reported Israeli soldiers firing at them and said they passed bodies strewn alongside the road."

This does not imply that those waving white flags were shot at, as described in the Wikipedia article. Recommend change this line to read: "Some Palestinian civilians fleeing combat reported Israeli soldiers firing at them."

Where, the source is as follows: [35] Shurafa, Wafa (7 November 2023). "Civilians fleeing northern Gaza's combat zone report a terrifying journey on foot past Israeli tanks". Associated Press. Archived from the original on 8 November 2023. Retrieved 9 November 2023. Rrunner23 (talk) 06:14, 27 November 2023 (UTC)

 Done I think you're right here it is too ambiguous, if this was to be re-added I'd say it'd need a second citation to confirm/deny the claims. Lewcm Talk to me! 10:39, 6 December 2023 (UTC)

There's nearly a whole month missing

The first evacuation order was οn 13 October 2023, but the first date in this article is the 8 November. Irtapil (talk) 04:57, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

Hamas atack

According to ynet, After the IDF spokesman in Arabic announced the hours of humanitarian transit, IDF soldiers arrived at the Salah al-Din road to open it and allow safe passage. In response, Hamas took advantage of the "window of opportunity" and fired at the area. There were no casualties among the forces. CNN: "Hamas prevents foreign citizens from leaving the Gaza Strip" https://www.ynet.co.il/news/article/rjidbyvx6#autoplay 2.55.187.188 (talk) 17:00, 4 November 2023 (UTC)

@2.55.187.188
Where does this belong in the article. Irtapil (talk) 04:59, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

Mistake in the textbox contradicted by the article.

The text box claims that there was only one attack, supposedly by Israel, with 70 casualties. This is contradicted by the article itself, in the 'attacks on evacuees' section, where it is mentioned that it is unknown if it was an ied hidden by hamas or an Israeli airstrike. Additional attacks reported in this section on evacuees, including supposed instances where hamas fired on evacuees, are also missing. While the text box obviously can't include the whole section, the summery needs to be of the whole section, and supported by the facts in the article.

@77.127.117.85
There was a line about this on another article (List of engagements during the 2023 Israel-Hamas war) but it got deleted. Irtapil (talk) 05:02, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

Bias concerns

This article fails to provide [[WP:DUE]] weight to Israel point of view. Adding a tag , work is needed. Marokwitz (talk) 12:53, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

@Marokwitz: Please provide an outline of the missing POV alongside sources. Iskandar323 (talk) 13:35, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
@Marokwitz
Yes, you need to be more specific. If you do the work to find some reliable sources people will probably willingly add them. Irtapil (talk) 05:07, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

Water Supply

I cannot edit this article myself. Will someone please mention that water has been restored to southern Gaza but not the the evacuated area? This seems to be a very salient point. HaileJones (talk) 10:31, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

@HaileJones
If you can provide a couple of good sources I will add it. Mention on my talk page to make sure I see it, and here as well since someone else might see it before I do.
But, noticing the date, I'm pretty sure there was no water in North Gaza on 16 October… so this seems weird.
Irtapil (talk) 05:11, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

Yippee, another edit request

UN says evacuation in fewer than 24 hours is impossible https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-10-13/un-calls-israel-order-to-evacuate-1-1-million-in-gaza-impossible G'year

Thanks @A westman: that ref is useful. Irtapil (talk) 05:16, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

Things to add

Israel dropping leaflets from planes imploring residents to go south (https://www.cnn.com/middleeast/live-news/israel-news-hamas-war-10-13-23/h_65692c9ecb7e2e94320df83fdf30cfc7). Google Translate interprets the leaflets (in the form widely pictured in the media) as alleging that Israel's motive for the evacuation to to keep civilians safe from Israeli fighting against Hamas and their facilities in residential areas. G'year

Thanks @G'year  English would be better though, being CNN they probably had the same story in English? Irtapil (talk) 05:23, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

Genocidal massacre

Where is the citation for genocidal massacre? Ben Azura (talk) 16:04, 22 October 2023 (UTC)

Agreed this needs a citation or it violates WikiPedia's rules on neutrality 60.243.246.6 (talk) 09:30, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
@60.243.246.6
Where do you mean? I have a citation for the evacuation orders being referred to as genocidal, but that citation is from today. Irtapil (talk) 05:05, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
@Ben Azura
You'll need to be more specific? Unfortunately that could refer to numerous different events in this war. Irtapil (talk) 05:03, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
@Irtapil: This was in the lede for at least a day: "The order came one week after a surprise offensive on Israel from Gaza was mounted by Hamas resulting in a genocidal massacre". [2]. It could refer to numerous events prompting this request for citations. It's not still in the article, is it? Ben Azura (talk) 05:16, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
@Ben Azura
Ah you're saying it's fixed. No I haven't spotted it there today, definitely flat it if you do. The debate about that particular concept has it's own page now. Irtapil (talk) 05:28, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
If by "genocidal massacre" you mean the 7 October terrorist attack, then that is currently in the intro already, link to 2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel? Irtapil (talk) 05:23, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
@Irtapil: This was before the South Africa case was filed. I cleaned up some of the newly added content about the case, added a quote - do you think it's ok now? I think I removed more commented additions than I thought, I was only trying to remove the part about the "hearing" we wouldn't say "in her hearing" so I think "speech" is fine. It looks like I removed a lot more than that. Was it important? you can restore it if you want. Ben Azura (talk) 05:50, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

According to MOS:APOSTROPHE and MOS:QUOTEMARKS, apostrophes and quotation marks should be straight rather than curly. Thus, change all instances of curly apostrophes or quotes (like ‘’ or “”) with their straight counterparts.

As a special case, in Gaza Strip evacuations#Accusations of war crime, change "The Israeli military’s “evacuation orders” are unlawful and amount to forcible transfer, a grave violation of international humanitarian law".[1] to "The Israeli military's 'evacuation orders' are unlawful and amount to forcible transfer, a grave violation of international humanitarian law".[2] AEagleLionThing (talk) 02:45, 10 August 2024 (UTC)

 Fixed: If there are other specific instances, feel free to point them out and re-activate this request. Left guide (talk) 01:46, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
