Biography to be extensively edited

[edit]

I plan to tackle Gary Teichmann as part of the Rugby Union project. The plan is to = Get it into a similar format as players such as Jonah Lomu, Matt Burke etc. = Add sufficient content from books and websites = Adequately cite references to back up assertions

If anybody has a problem with this or would like to collaborate then please let it be known on this Talk --Tiucsib 20:32, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Order of captains

[edit]

I don't think it is important that the box at the bottom showing his successor and predecessor matches the Springbok captains page. That page specifies that "captains are listed in chronological order of their first match as captain." That's fine as far as it goes...that list may not need to show every time one captaincy was briefly interrupted. However, it does not serve this article to say that Gary Teichmann's predecessor as Springbok captain was Adriaan Richter who captained a single RWC match. Richter was his predecessor as debuting captain only. Having Richter there is really quite misleading. Similarly, Francois Pienaar's page had shown that his successor was Tiann Strauss. Again, a single match a year before the defining sequence of Pienaar's captaincy is hardly the same as taking the job over for him.

Consistency is good, but accuracy is better.

For a good contrast, see Sean Fitzpatrick's page. It doesn't show his captaincy ending with Paul Henderson's match against Japan in the 1995 RWC.My Dinner With Andre The Giant (talk) 04:50, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

1995 World Cup?

[edit]

There's no evidence Teichmann was selected for the South African squad at the 1995 World Cup. Here can be read that he played for the Springboks from 1995 till 1999 without being selected for any World Cup, and here reads: When François Pienaar celebrated last year's World Cup triumph with President Mandela and the rest of the Rainbow Nation, Gary Teichmann, a far-from- youthful, uncapped No 8, was watching on television. Thus we can deduce that Teichmann never was included in the squad for the 1995 RWC. -- SERGIO aka the Black Cat 09:09, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
