In my opinion the Maxim machine gun et the peramiters for all of the machine guns of the future. It was the first fully automatic weapon that used recoil action to load a new round into the chamber. It was also the first belt fed machine gun. the belt system is still in use today by all of the worlds machine guns. It was the main anti personel weapon of the first world war. It was improved upon in world war 2 and then it served in korea. Then when vietnam came along the M60 machine gun was the more favored weapon. the maxim was the first and led the way to today moderen weaponery.
