I wonder if these two are the same species or two sub species of the same plant.[reply]

Mangosteen?

[edit]

Should this page be merged with the page for Purple Mangosteen?? I think that it refers to the same fruit.Jimjamjak (talk) 10:44, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kokum and Kudampuli are not the same

[edit]

The Wikipedia entry on Kokum indicates that it is also called Kudampuli in Kerala. I don't belive this is correct. Kokum's scientifc name is "Garcinia indica". The Kudampuli used in Kerala cuisine, while belonging to the same genus, is a different species and it's scientific name is "Garcinia combogea". The Pink Mangosteen that is widely popular as a fruit in South-East Asia is a differne t species within the same genus Garcinia.

Could this be reveiwed and if my assertion is correct, I would request that the entry be corrected.

What is the natural flowering period of the tree?

[edit]

Can some experts put more light on the botanical aspects of the tree? Leningrad (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 16:05, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Change in the Tamil name

[edit]

The Tamil Name Kodukkapuli is the name of the fruit of the tree called as Pithecellobium_dulce.So I have removed the name and that name is not the name of this tree(Garcinia indica). Delince.samuel (talk) 13:29, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
