Busiest station
[edit]I'm afraid this fact is not supported by the figures which is why I removed it. Here are the exit/entry figures p/a for some stations outside central London:
Dagenham Heathway 3.225 million Gants Hill 3.556 million Upton Park 6.41 million East Ham tube station 9.098 million Barking station 9.963 million
Its better to let facts speak rather than make broad unsupported statements. MRSC 05:19, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
- Please don't put words in my mouth. I never said that it was the busiest station. I said, and still say, that it is one of the busiest stations. Would MRSC care to put up the complete list, including say Fairlop and Moor Park, so that readers can get a balanced picture?
Londoneye 12:13, 10 October 2005 (UTC)- It's best to avoid peacock terms and weasel terms in articles and just let facts speak for themselves. It also ensures NPOV when writing good articles.
- Given that stations outside central London vary from the very low (<1M p/a) to the very high (>9M p/a) I would have to say that Gants Hill is pretty much average just like Dagenham Heathway. I don't think there is any need to put this in the article, just presenting the figures is enough.

Moscow Metro
[edit]We had two conflicting statements regarding Gants Hill's design being influenced by the Moscow Metro, or vice-versa - have clarified using the tfl posters on display at the moment as the source - copy of which can be seen [1]. Grunners (talk) 17:01, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

concourse bored?
[edit]I'm reading London's Underground by H F Howson. He suggests that the concourse at Gant's Hill was bored (rather than cut and cover). Im not convinced that is likely, so thought I'd see what Wikipedia has to say. Unfortunately it says nothing about station construction. Does anyone know the answer?FreeFlow99 (talk) 14:00, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
- There is a detailed discussion of the construction in Antony Badsey-Ellis's Building London's Underground, 2016, ISBN 9-781854-143976. The platform tunnels, side passages and centre concourse were bored in several stages using five overlapping bores, three of which were enlarged later to form the final arrangement. The domed section of the central concourse is same 21 feet 2.5 inches (6.464 m) diameter as the platform tunnels at a higher centre line.--DavidCane (talk) 14:41, 15 October 2017 (UTC)

Whilst the station was inspired by the Moscow Metro, the bit in "Design" about Holden being a consultant on the Moscow Underground is wrong. The main advice was technical rather than architectural and from the Managing director, Frank Pick, rather than Holden.--DavidCane (talk) 13:29, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
