Short stemma on Memmii
[edit]This is from reading Zmeskal. I prepared it but wasn't exactly sure where to put it.
- ??? maybe Gaius Memmius (RE 4) (pr 172) or Lucius Memmius (RE 11) (pr by 129)
- Lucius Memmius (RE 12) (leg amb ca 112)
- Lucius Memmius (RE 14) (tr pl 90)
- Memmia (RE 38) (wife of Gaius Scribonius Curio (consul 76 BC))
- Gaius Memmius (RE 8) (pr 58)
- Gaius Memmius (RE 10) (cos suff 34)
- Gaius Memmius (RE 6, 7) (this one, quaestor 77 or 76)
- Gaius Memmius (RE 9) (this one's son, tr pl 54)
- Lucius Memmius (RE 14) (tr pl 90)
- Gaius Memmius (RE 5) (tr pl 111)
- Lucius Memmius (RE 12) (leg amb ca 112)
That should clarify things, since describing these relationships in text between all these men that have literally two names can get rather confusing. There are also two different reconstructions shown graphically in Zmeskal vol 2. I use the one that Zmeskal presents in vol 1 rather than the one presented in vol 2 attributed to Sumner Orators p 87. Sumner believed that this one was the son of RE 5 directly; probably because only recently have people more agreed that the Memmii who were iiiv mon were the same as the tribunes. Both also seem to consistently have L before C. Ifly6 (talk) 16:17, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
- You could put it under the first paragraph of the biography or just bellow the introduction. I don't know about the ??? though. Could you fix that? Maybe just write Gaius or Lucius Memmius. LuciusHistoricus (talk) 12:11, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
