Fiber
[edit]Does eating to much fiber have a negative effect on the human body
- Yes: flatulence. In extremely high levels, it can also interfere with normal digestive processes and cause malnutrition by making the person feel too full to want to eat enough nutrients. WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:15, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
Origin of term
[edit]Dictionary.com says this term comes from the Japanese language: kinsei-shokuhin = 'functionality' 'food'. Is this correct? Badagnani 06:27, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
link to purported "functional foods"?

why do super food redirects here????
[edit]Why do super food redirects here this is not what no super food is. Dr Oz gives a different deffinition and that is like almonds and sweet potatoe and spiniche. I guess he knows better than you so please don't have super food redirect here it doesnt have NOTHING to do with food you add shit to to make it better. It is already super food by itself.
I just lol with the Dr Oz evangelists — Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.254.159.57 (talk) 10:36, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
I believe it would be smart to convert this graphic into textual table, since there is no graphical elements in the picture that would add anything informative to it. It would also make editing and adding references to it easier. The graphic now - although well demonstrative - looks a bit too clumsy for Wikipedia. Jakce (talk) 13:55, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Functional food definition by FFC
[edit]Functional food definition by FFC may have material of use to Functional food. It isn't clear to me how notable a single organization's definition of FF is, to the extent that it differs from the definition already given in Functional food. Moreover, a lot of the newer article consists of justifications for the definition, violating WP:NPOV and WP:SOAPBOX, and works through the reasoning and process of how the definition was arrived it, internal details that may not be of encyclopedic interest to those removed from the organization's proceedings. —Largo Plazo (talk) 21:58, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
- I reverted the wholesale edit added to the article today. It looks plagiarized from FFC's own materials and is not encyclopedic per WP:NOTTEXTBOOK. I added this to the comment concerning the AfD for FFC: "Functional food definition by FFC": whether academically accurate or not (FFC is related to a university). It should not be merged with the existing Functional Food article, an action which DanikMartirosyan attempted to do without WP:CON today. The edit contains information showing DanikMartirosyan is President of the FFC, so a probable WP:COI applies. I reverted it and will be placing a warning on this user's Talk page. --Zefr (talk) 00:23, 12 October 2016 (UTC)
Seaweed as a Functional Food
[edit]To elaborate on the sections of application of functional food, I am wondering if I could put specific examples of use of functional food? I am currently write up seaweed as an application of functional food. Specific paragraphs can be seem from my sandbox. Feel free to comment on whether it is appropriate to be put in the article by adding a new section. Also, sources can be found from annotated bibliography in case you want to check source's credibility.

Application of Functional Food
[edit]Hi Wikipedias, I am wondering if it is ok to add the application and trend of functional food in the description.People are always more willing to take food instead of medicine for their health. That’s why more and more people would be interested in functional food and might search online for definition and application about functional food. Wikipedia might be a start place for people to look at it. Thus, it is better to inform public about categories of functional food. Below is my writeup, please feel free to comment whether you think it is relevant to add and elaborate more on the writeup.
Major values of functional food that have been researched and developed in recent years include weight management, energy boost, beauty, control of diabetes, and digestive health.[1]People are getting interested in consumption of functional food due to its creation of personalization. Trend toward functional foods mostly are under categories of meat substitutes, naturally healthy food source, protein source and vegetable based alternatives.[2]
