[edit]Could Pardon have made the comparison with Grace that you quote somewhere else? The Grace obituary is available here:
but it doesn't seem to contain the bit that you quote.

- I don't have those Wisdens with me now, so I am writing from memory. Wisden 1916 contained two articles on Grace - a proper obituary by Pardon and this tribute which is written by Lord Harris
or Hawke, plus a huge statistics section. Pardon's obit is not reproduced at the Wisden site. (As a matter of fact, I am not sure whether Wisden mentions Pardon's name but Eric Midwinter attributes it to him in the last chapter of his W G Grace : His life and Times). Pardon's article - with the lines quoted in the Fuller Pilch - appears in Benny Green's Wisden Book of Cricketers' Lives, which is a collection of Wisden obituaries (and which I have with me at the moment).
- I'll leave a note in Johnlp's talk page. He has a huge collection of Wisdens and should be able to confirm it. Tintin (talk) 14:56, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'm happy. JH 15:50, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
- I don't have Wisden 1916 (I go back to 1925 and acquire them at a rate of about two a year, so I may get there in 2011!) But I do have Benny Green's Wisden Anthology 1900-1940 and that reproduces both Lord Harris's tribute and SHP's obit. The words Tintin quoted are indeed in the SHP obit. The Duckworth Lewis Method
[edit]This is dangerously close to "Fuller Pilch in popular culture"! However, thought I'd record here that Pilch is given a mention in the second verse of "Gentlemen and Players" by The Duckworth Lewis Method. Loganberry (Talk) 19:31, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Excellent! (I can't help thinking that having the titles of two srticles distinguised only by whether "method" is capitalised isn't a very good idea, though.) JH (talk page) 20:06, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
