In the 1997 season, both the former Phoenix Firebirds and Tucson Toros each played 20 "home" games in Palm Springs Stadium in Palm Springs, California a temporary smaller venue for the minor leagues. The site was the former spring training site for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim then called the California Angels from 1961 to 1992 and their class-A affiliate of the California League (the Palm Springs Angels from 1986-93). The Giants' class-A Cal League affiliate: the San Jose Giants may move to the triple-A Pacific Coast League, and the Grizzlies may find another major league team affiliation contract. The two PCL teams, the Las Vegas 51's (Blue Jays) and Tucson Padres might disband their business operations or merge with each other with Tucson no longer able to stay put (they could relocate, one option to El Paso, Texas) and Las Vegas 51's are financially underwater. San Jose is still class-A, while the Lancaster team plays to contract before the 2021 season and the Fresno Grizzlies have an uncertain future, considering MiLB reduced the number of affiliated teams to 120 for next year. Adinneli (talk) 20:40, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
