Hey DS. I experience more problems on being blocked from editing, because of the AOL IP address. On some articles, whatever I type or edit will always belong to the same AOL IP address. How in the world can I change that and no longer remain stuck? It's frustrating, when I still get autoblocked.

In my first two days as a "wikipedian" I recieved 10 blocks under AOL IPs and most of them are constant violators. We must improve access to everyone who uses Wikipedia. I don't understand why some users: "cant sleep, clown will eat me" and "I'm the M-F juggernaut" return here on their vandalism spree. There's no way I can edit anything I want for now. We're very sorry that you experienced problems; the problem is not Wikipedia, it's AOL: They reassign you a new IP address each time you load a page. Our only way of identifying un-loggged in editors is by their IP, and as long as AOL continues it's practice of reassigning a new IP on each page load, they continue the practice of assigning innocent people to IPs used by vandals. We can't change how AOL assigns IPs, and we can't stop blocking people who run around blanking pages and filling the site with foul language, so until AOL begins to assin thier IPs in the manner that every other ISP does, we're stuck with this problem. Some of the worst Wiki vandalism is from administrators (they change their settings not to get blocked). I call it a sneeky trick to continue article vandalism. AOL isn't doing a good job, so it's up to them to improve security measures, because I been blocked too many times. I got this message 6 times in the past week: "ceiling cat vandal". When I used a public AOL IP address, it might open doors for vandals to destroy my editing powers. My apologies if it violated any rules on the main page. The Phoenix murder spree is a national (U.S.) news story. The number of mysterious incidents decreased and the Phoenix police are vigilant to catch the suspect(s). Some high-profile "local" crimes, if grotesque and mysterious enough, or if it's a frequent wave of crimes, are newsworthy. Cherokee language suggestion

Hey...Cherokee American is my title :-D It isn't truly necessary, but the Cherokee language is in a period of revival in Oklahoma, U.S. Wikipedia has several "extinct" or not widely used language editions. Examples of unique language versions are Latin, Esperanto, Manx from the Isle of Man, Buganda, Papiamento, Ruthenian and hundreds of dialects not often written in encyclopedias. Be in mind the Cherokee syllabary is one of a few American Indian alphabets, invented by Sequoyah, a Cherokee scholar in the 1820's. Other Native American languages known to still thrive are Navajo, Comanche, Lakota, Cree, Haida and Yupik, although most young Native Americans speak English as a result of cultural dominance of the U.S. for two centuries. --Mike D 26 20:34, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Ok...go ahead. My Spanish does appear rusty, but familiar of the language. I'm sure a few people from other countries who speak fluent English may type in errors, but don't mean they failed to learn. Palm Springs Angels article

Note that I created an article on the Palm Springs Angels minor league baseball team. I will continue my search for sources from sports news web pages, due to time constraints and the amount of any sources are low. Pacific Southwest Baseball League

KVFA-LP

I added some information to your article, but noticed that there were a couple of statements that could not be verified. You state that KVFA programming is also on UHF channels 31 and 63, but I am not able to find those channels in the Yuma/El Centro area. Are those broadcast stations or cable channels, and if the former, do you have the cities of license for them? Also, you stated that KVFA was slated to have Almavision programs. Do you have any documentation to verify that? I left the statements in, but placed a fact check on them, as they do not comply with WP:V. No problem. I didn't remove any of your information, other than changing the statement that it was independently owned to being owned by KM Communications. They own several TV stations and construction permits in Arizona, including two in the Show Low/Snowflake area for which they just applied for licenses. Their other two licensed stations in AZ are both America One affiliates, as are a lot of their other stations, so I was surprised to see that KVFA wasn't. I was in Yuma yesterday and brought my portable TV along with me, but was unable to pick up the station. I saw the FCC link, but that was showing that they'd been identified as a singleton applicant for a digital companion channel on channel 36, which I reported in Radio-Info when the FCC report first came out [2]. In any case, I appreciate your contribution; your article was the first news for me that KVFA was on. dhett 19:33, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Just had another thought: is your friend seeing religious programming on channel 36 in El Centro? There is a channel 36 there, K36FO, that serves El Centro down to Calexico, but not Yuma. That's not KVFA-LP, though. KVFA is on channel 6 only and should only be picked up in Yuma in the area NW of the MCAS base, according to the FCC maps. [3]. Ok..some anon-only IP altered my request for unblock instead of {{ was replaced with <<. This is totally vandalism and wasn't able to find the culprit on User talk: Mike D 26 - history. We have a big issue with Wiki vandals using anti-tracking software devices, like on the Tulsa, Oklahoma article back on June 25th. R.J. Williams

I recalled this actor when he was a child starring on Wake, Rattle and Roll, and was the voice of Kit Cloudkicker on Tale Spin back in the 1990s. I always liked to star on TV shows or movies, and my artistic talent to draw cartoons can offer me a chance to do character voices. But, I went on to other ventures in life and too busy to find stardom. I decided to start a page on him and acknowledgements to the AOL search engine (this time it helped me find the necessary info., just left 3 web page links on the page). Sorry for the trouble, but somebody was abusing their editing priviledges from that IP address, and due to the nature of AOL's proxy servers, collateral damage in such cases is unfortunately quite common. I'm sorry Ernesto. Kim does patrol the Palm Springs article, just like how I patrol the Indio, Cal. article. I'm trying to trace back my steps to the sources needed for entries and edits, because I wanted to be honest on them. Local issues aren't always negative and not fooling around to defame Indio or Coachella, Cal. for that matter. I'm not making the community I lived in my whole life like a ghetto (or others, but you mentioned Cathedral City and Desert Hot Springs has declined in recent years, how would the residents of these feel on what YOU said?) Yeah, why wikis and anons alike created articles on their hometown is based on pride and local knowledge (some "get to know the area jerks" LoL). I'm totally aware on issues like race and class aren't easily talked about, but I hold no prejudice and not a racist. My own family are immigrants and minorities (French and Cherokee, but I'm American first and somewhat considered white to most people), so it would be odd for me to "hate" or dislike anyone of other races and nationalities.+ Mike D 26 13:54, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Please stop vandalizing the Palm Springs article. You are not citing sources and are adding inaccurate data. A few days later, after we have fixed the problem, you do the same thing. This is a waste of time and energy on all the real work that is done on this article. A more constructive way to help would be to discuss issues on the Palm Springs TALK page and reach concensus with the group.

Sports team edits

Ok, it's been difficult to find sources on some Golden Baseball League, ASL, af2, ABA and ECHL ice hockey edits. Not every sports team has an article or not discovered by Wikipedia (some may folded before they played). Which means either I can create one or wait until I search the web for a link or press release about the teams. The only reliable source is the teams' sports programs, but the leagues have web sites with nearly 100% accuracy. The admins think I'm lying ("hoax teams"), confused them in other leagues, and told me to "get real, start a team on your own" (it would be nice for me to own a sports franchise, if I got the money). Anyway, I wanted to be a radio talk host, standup comedian, or a mapmaker when I grow up. Some rich businessmen and successful celebrities like Gene Autry, actor/singer had dreamt of a major league baseball team and he started the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. These "second-level" leagues' proposed expansion plans are subject to change, gets delayed or cancelled out, because of the high risk and instability of the leagues. No wonder I can always verify any teams or web sites I come up, but fellow wikis, stay tuned for any developments. + Mike D 26 14:03, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Diversity edits

I decided to include descriptions of racial diversity for some Los Angeles communities: Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Long Beach and Redondo Beach. The stories of these cities grew by newcomers and today, are highly diverse in a number of races, ethnicities and cultures. Late 20th century immigration into Southern California has changed the area's social fabric, yet not many people outside of Wikipedia knew the L.A. area was diverse for decades and centuries. I corrected the segments with new edits on "white" or "right wing" communities of Glendora, California, Moreno Valley, Simi Valley and Yucca Valley aren't what they look like from what the media reports on these cities are too white or conservative (this is called NPOV) - Mike D. 26. + 207.200.116.68 15:20, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

The problem with these edits is that they are unsourced, and so they look like original research or speculations, instead of material approriate for an encyclopedia. For example, see my reply to your recent comments at talk:Long Beach, California#Diversity. You should reference the US Census Factfinder website to get some of the statistics on the heritage of different city populations. Especially for populations that have drastically changed over the years (e.g. the Japanese in Long Beach before and after WW II, you'll probably have to go to a US Depository Library to look up the census stats.

IMHO, it would be better (and easier) to document some of the larger European 'colonies' and enclaves in Southern California, such as the Portuguese to San Pedro and Artesia, the Balkans to San Pedro, Germans to Anaheim, and Dutch in Cerritos (Mike D 26 added this one...sorry about that faux pas). ^BlankVerse 03:39, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

I assume that this edit to the Long Beach, California aricle by 207.200.116.200 (talk · contribs) is you. You specifically mentioned the following European ethnic groups: Dutch 1.0%, Greeks 0.4%, Italians 2.9%, Portuguese 0.3%, and Spanish. The percentages that I added are the percentage for that ancestry from the 2000 United States Census for Long Beach [4]. Spain isn't even listed in that table because they are apparently only .5% of the population of Long Beach (calculated from the page on Hispanic or Latino by Type [5]). The largest percentage European ancestries reported are English 5.6%, German 7.3%, and Irish 6.0%, with nothing else over 5%. If you look at the Nativity data from the US Census, you will quickly find out that Long Beach is not a direct destination for European immigrants, with only 1.2% of the population born in Europe (5,714 of 461,381) [6]. You mentioned Pacific Islanders. According to the US Census, there are only 1.2% persons of Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander ancestry in Long Beach [7].

I don't know what information you based your edit of the Long Beach article on, but if you have references, I'd like to see them. ^BlankVerse 06:30, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Diversity is diversity, yeah...ethnic and racial may share a common grammar root, but are two separate meanings (and both carried a politically charged meaning). We should use the term "cultural and national" diversity, in order to be specific in the many origins of people in Long Beach. The 1975 World book Encyclopedia is where I got the ethnic/racial ancestry source, mind you. Yes, the information has changed in 30 years, but never forget that historical overview of Long Beach was a major port for immigration from around the world. The Broadway section and port areas is where they first lived, but went onward to the inland communities (Artesia, Cerritos and Los Alamitos) and assimilated, but are very "multi-culti" communities. + Mike D 26 00:21, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Long Beach, California#Sports

I don't know where you got your information for your recent edits to Long Beach, California#Sports, but you introduced a number of errors and omissions. The mascot for the Long Beach State's teams has always been the 49ers (not the Knights) [8]. There hasn't been a football team at CSULB since 1992 [9]. The school has a women's, but not a men's soccer team. The Men's Baseball and Basketball teams have done fairly well, but have never had a national championship. They do not compare to their Women's Volleyball team (5 national championships, 20 NCAA tournament appearances). [10]

Also, if you are going to label the section "College sports", you should have included information on the Long Beach City College Vikings. [11]

Finally, for your unreferenced mention of the Arena Football League, the Wikipedia is generally not a place to put mentions of possible future events (see WP:NOT). ^BlankVerse 12:33, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, the mention of a future indoor football team in Long Beach was on the local sports news. Nolesrule wrote to me and stated Long Beach isn't up for an Arena football team. He goes and checks for accuracy on the Arena Football League and af2 articles everyday. The web site dropped Long Beach right before I wrote it. He took down "possible expansion team sites" that lacked a reliable source, be it TV news or the newspaper. Nolesrule is an AFL fan and may work for the web site (who knows), I'm sure on the indoor football team boom in the U.S., but why not the L.A. area where there's not one National Football League team since 1995? I can remember in Aug. or Sep., the NFL commission spoke with two potential team owners (businessmen) from Los Angeles and there hasn't been new developments (I'm gonna read the article). + Mike D 26 17:44, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Thank you, but Long Beach Cal. and these small but lucrative markets were considered before. No problem, the team owners went for other indoor football leagues. The Inland Empire, Cal. region, Arizona and four countries (the UK, Japan, Mexico and Puerto Rico) pulled out of the AFL/af2 expansion options... they have arenas too small or unequipped (or the cost of remodeling them); and great travel distances, plus hour difference for overseas AFL/af2 teams. I'd sure the failed World League of football done this international representation in the 1990s, when they had teams in The UK, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. I love the Target store banner that read "Happy winter solstice". Is it a holiday other than an earth's axis-astronomical event (in the Northern hemisphere)? Re-editing of Palm Springs area radio market

My next wikipedia project are updates on the list of radio stations in the Palm Springs area (Coachella Valley), whenever I have the time to search the web engines and love to recieve worthy information from fellow wikis. Thank you! I've just learned before you reminded me on Indio has no sister cities as of late 2006, this was outdated information from 2004 and 2005. In previous years, the Indio city council visited representatives from Lynwood, Cal. and Mexicali, Mexico, in meetings and economic conferences, and the cities send parade floats in the annual Date Festival parade every February. American Fork, Utah had sent their high school teams (baseball, football and basketball) to compete against Indio high school. The sister city information in the Indio article on Lynwood and American Fork was erroneous from the get-go. Sister city relationships are ALWAYS with cities in different countries, and almost always only one sister city per county (for example, look at the list for Los Angeles, California). Lynwood and American Fork may have had other formal or informal relationships with Indio, but they were NEVER officially dubbed sister cities (in the SCI). ^BlankVerse 22:57, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

List of Mexican American communities

I created the list of Mexican-American communities after requests in the article called for it, but some of the list's towns and neighborhoods aren't entirely sourced to verify the percentage or population of Mexican Americans. I appreciate any assistance and web pages to examine the issue, but most of these towns and neighborhoods' articles in Wikipedia contain official census demographic data, however only had the single category: Hispanics/Latinos. Be in mind not all Hispanics/Latinos are Mexicans or Mexican Americans, there are at least 20 Latin American nationalities complied under the category and the makeup of Hispanic/Latino communities vary from one town to another. +Mike D 26 11:22, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

I decided to add La Quinta, California to the community list, because the city's population is over a third (35 percent) Latino, and Mexican-Americans are the city's largest ethnic group. The article offers a census web link for La Quinta Cal.'s racial makeup and ethnic/ancestral groups. The entry about 2006 "population estimates" for La Quinta to be over half Latino is unsourced...and please find me the exact source of that demographic data. But I have personally read and heard of the Coachella Valley or Palm Springs area and most of their communities, except for the golf resort communities of Rancho Mirage and Indian Wells, if all the nine or ten communities' racial data are put together...the Coachella Valley is about 40-45 percent Latino. + Mike D 26 17:55, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

The Dutch people article is constantly reverted and I attempted to stop it, plus my edits are instantly removed for not having the most academic sources. These are facts and knew the sources, but was later rejected for having a "nationalist" bent or was proven "inaccurate". But, if I come across anyone in the article and sent me vulgar/obscene posts in my talk page. Totally Spies article

Someone is constantly deleting TSPA from the article's external links and this has to stop. Whoever is caught removing web links and fan sites without proper approval are reported and most likely disciplined. Hello...I created a new article on issues involving Cherokee identity, in continuation of research into the Cherokee people and Cherokee heritage groups. This discusses the cultural feel of unspecified millions of people who claim to be Cherokee Indians. Still under overview and in need of more reliable sources. I appreciate any concerns or feedback about this, because I somehow questioned a few parts of the issue whether this is authentic or myth created by "faux-Indians" or "wannabes" that seem to gravitate towards the Cherokee Nation than most Native American tribal groups in recent years. Southern California bids for 2018 Winter games

I have a difficult time finding sources on local rumors in Southern Cal. (a very warm climate, but our mountains provide great winter sports activities) about they bid for the 2018 Winter Olympics. In case of deletion (and my apologies if it wasn't following the rules), here's the added edit below.

The Clippers cannot compete in a city known to treat the Lakers more like "sports royality". The team did thought of moving out of L.A. in the mid 1990s, one possible place is Long Beach but failed to offer them a major league-style sports facility. I predict next year, the Clippers heads to Anaheim where the Honda Center is the best location. They never succeeded in San Diego, nor in Buffalo N.Y. and to me, L.A. is a major waste of money for the Clippers franchise. Mike D 26 (talk) 03:30, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

I don't know but I think there are some of them I kind of like. I also have heard from a neurologist that it is truely a super-symptom. Classic OCD symptoms include obsessing over a thing or a person (and might represent a small but unknown portion of many classified stalking cases), not only they "hate" the person but "like" a person too much or doesn't get the hint the other person/victim has no romantic interest with the stalker/suspect. Most stalking cases aren't violent nor have a "revenge mentality" element, but what they do to others will scare, intimidate and discomfort the victim. Stalking produces psychological damage like further panic-anxiety, but stalkers if they are diagnosed with OCD or social defiancy are probably in need for proper social relationships (i.e. true actual friends or romantic interests) with people who care or relate back to them. Erich Honecker and Adolf Hitler are the same?

You are only one person when it comes to condemning Erich Honecker.

Erich Honecker may be a least-liked person in Germany, though Erich Honecker helped bring up the German economy to where it is today "strong, free and accessible". Erich Honecker was not without his faults, but he made sure that the East Germans did not see another Nazi regime like the one West Germany had for many years after World War II. Adolf Hitler was a man of demonic proportions. He brutalized, tortured, slaughtered and every other word, as many people as he could kill and if given the chance, Adolf Hitler would have taken over the world and would have destroyed it by now. Him and his Nazi goons would have loved to destroy the world not to mention outer space. Nazism and Fascism are all about mass murder and destroying lives, though communism is all about the recovery from such horror, as we seen in East Germany. I do not support communism because of their economic or social policies, but i support communism because it saved the world from a bigger threat than Nazi Germany, and i am not talking about NATO, although they were a threat to democracy and still are today. There was also Fascist Italy, for which Benito Mussolini and his goons were executed and the pro-Nazi government in Italy was dismantled and Italy now has a democratic government. Though Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy were gone, there were at least two other fascist dictatorships in Europe that lasted until the 1970's. There were in Spain and Portugal. I believe that if it wasn't for the spread of communism in Europe at the time, Francisco Franco and Antonio de Oliveira Salazar would have attempted to do the same thing that Adolf Hitler and Hideki Tojo tried to do, take over the world and perform mass slaughter on guilty and innocent people, mostly the innocent. Though they both recognized that communism was too strong a force to be reckoned with, so they decided to stay in their own countries and rule from the inside, which was very smart of both dictators. So my point is, that if you had a choice between Adolf Hitler and Erich Honecker as your next ruler of Germany, who would you choose? Sorry if i wrote a lot, bye!

Sorry to opine on the article but I got free speech in the US of A. Hitler and Honecker are alike in some ways, but on the opposite ends of the political spectrum and each brought on a painful legacy of authoritarianism to the (East) German people. Honecker wasn't the only East German leader to speak of, nor was Hitler the only infamous fascist dictator in world history, and those two are examples of what the "new Europe" was created from the experiences of the worst forms of ethnic nationalism and international socialism. Germany is a different country today from their encounters with two world wars, the cold war and reunification, and the Franco-Prussian war struggles in the 19th cen., but Hitler and Honecker broke their own promises to the German people. + Mike D 26 (talk) 08:37, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

But anyway, Erich Honecker and Adolf Hitler are not one of the same, they are both entirely different people. While Hitler made it his goal to destory Germany (and the rest of Europe), Erich Honecker, and Walter Ulbricht before him, made it their goals to rebuild Europe and the Soviet Union had the same exact goal of rebuilding Europe, thus both Walter Ulbricht and Erich Honecker are two of the most influential German people of all time, and they attempted to rebuild Europe, but they had major interference from capitalist Europe which were shadow, puppet countries that were, and still are, controlled by the United States of America and the corporations that control Western European governments for their own interests. While Western Europe was dedicated to restroring and presevering the monsters known as Nazism and Fascism, Eastern Europe was dedicated to destroying the monsters known as Nazism and Fascism and the Soviet Union and Eastern European countries set out to build an Europe that could not be defeated and to build an Europe that defeated monstrious ideologies like capitalism, fascism and Nazism, although this did not happen because the people in Eastern Europe did not allow this to happen. In the German Democratic Republic, the people failed the country, the leader did not fail the country, Erich Honecker did not break any promises to the people, the people broke their promises to him, and Adolf Hitler did not break his promise either, the promise of what he said that Germany, or Europe, would not be reconziged within 25 to 30 or 100 years, well, he kept his promise and he was right, after 1945, you couldn't reconzige Europe, it was all destroyed. Between 1985 to 1989, in the Soviet Union, General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev introduced reforms that were revolutionary and they were supposed to fix the Soviet system, not destroy it, and Gorbachev also allowed the countries of Eastern Europe to determine their own affairs, however, the people saw then that the capitalist system was more favorable to them because it would allow them to treat other people like they were crap, and therefore they got rid of the communist system and they brought in the monster known as capitalism, since then, living standards have fallen, higher deaths and low births are taking place and the entire is in the hands of only a few people instead of all the people like it was during communist times. So the argument here is, communism tried to defeat three monsters at once but those monsters were just too strong because they had the support of the people while communism had no support because the people had abandoned communism for their own selfish desires. • I rather not make my member talk page a public scene, but here's my real opinion: Honecker was authoritarian, but not a mass murderer like Hitler. Many psychiatrists found Honecker from his 10 years spent in Nazi prison camps was less capable of his leadership position, then he wasn't the same category as Hitler with his evifent displays of neurotic rage in his fiery political speeches. Honecker had appeared "drunk" or inattentive in TV news interviews, while he seems to clueless on the drastic situation of the East German people, the declining economy and the growing gap of living standards with the West (Federal Republic of Germany). The thing is authoritarianism is a symptom of ones' mental illness or an inability to respect the people's rights or wishes for a democratic government that Honecker and Hitler claimed to offer and promised. A former wikipedian removed them stating it lacked the proper criteria, is redundant by stating "it just is" and appeared unnecessary. Lusitsa Serbs exist in Germany, but they are not related to Balcan Serbs, Lusitsa Serbs never lived in the Balcans ... the name is same most probably because in 7th century happened migrations of slavs from north to the Balcans ... so Lusitsa Serbs are probably Serbs who stayed in Eastern Europe, who didnt move to the Balcans ... its not same case as Burgenland Croats in Austria who came there in 17th century from Croatia ... - signed by anon IP.

Just to let you know that even though I tried to add a citation to your addition to the NAMBLA article it has been deleted. I tried reverting it since the editor Lionelt who removed it didn't explain on the discussion page why he was taking out such a large section of the article. It was quickly deleted a second time by Active Banana who also didn't bother to explain his reasons on the discussion page.
