Moved

[edit]

I moved the name from Frei to Friar because friar is the English term.--70.158.89.185 14:09, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, that was me, I forgot to log in.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 14:52, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I moved it back as the other languages use the term "frei"--Kungfu Adam (talk) 15:05, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sainthood

[edit]

Should this article be moved to Saint Galvão? --myselfalso 17:08, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have created a redirect. I think it should be Friar Galvão, because that is the translation. I moved it before, but moved it back.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 18:37, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That would depend on the name by which he is most commonly known in English. --Grace 05:29, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Improper prose

[edit]

"It is from here that he drew his strength to be of continuous service to other people." Is this a novel? No, it is an encyclopedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.69.14.35 (talk) 20:46, 13 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Article contradicts itself

[edit]

The dates for him being declared Blessed and Venerable conflict. In the information box, it says he was beatified in 1998, but the article itself says he was declared venerable in that year. One of them has to be inaccurate. J.J. Bustamante 08:05, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First Brazilian

[edit]

Another article states that Saint Paulina was the first Brazilian to be canonised? (Neostinker (talk) 15:25, 24 February 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Saint Paulina was the first brazilian citizen to be canonised, but was italian-born. (Edmurbobby (talk) 22:38, 5 May 2009 (UTC))[reply]

GA Review

This review is transcluded from Talk:Frei Galvão/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

Reviewer: warrior4321 15:49, 20 July 2010 (UTC) GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria[reply]

  1. Is it reasonably well written?
    A. Prose quality:
    B. MoS compliance:
The lead needs to be expanded to summarize the contents of the article. It currently summarizes -nothing- from the body of the article.
  2. Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
    A. References to sources:
Reference 4 and even reference 5 are used too many times. You need to find additional references to back up these claims. A single reference is not good enough.
    B. Citation of reliable sources where necessary:
    C. No original research:
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. Major aspects:
Did he not write any books or have anything created by him?
    B. Focused:
  4. Is it neutral?
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. Is it stable?
    No edit wars, etc:
  6. Does it contain images to illustrate the topic?
    A. Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:
    B. Images are provided where possible and appropriate, with suitable captions:
  7. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:

Prose review

[edit]
  • His father, Antônio Galvão de França, was the Portuguese-born Captain-General of the village. Active in the world of commerce, França belonged to the Third Order of Saint Francis and was known for his generosity. Was his father a priest or a soldier with high military rank, or was he both?
  • by his father, which wished to provide Humanities and cultural training to his son. He followed his brother José, who was already studying there. Don't you mean who?
  • Just when things seemed more quiet, another government intervention brought Galvão a further trial We don't write stories, please remove the just when things seemed more quiet.

I've put the article on hold for seven days to allow folks to address the issues I've brought up. Feel free to contact me on my talk page, or here with any concerns, and let me know one of those places when the issues have been addressed. If I may suggest that you strike out, check mark, or otherwise mark the items I've detailed, that will make it possible for me to see what's been addressed, and you can keep track of what's been done and what still needs to be worked on. warrior4321 02:08, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Since, no work was done on the article, I am failing this nomination. warrior4321 13:35, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

references for the pills

[edit]

Neither of the footnote references for the pills (3, 12) are working. I don't think the Church would certify pills with healing, even if it accepted the healing. Good references would be necessary I think for this statement to stand. --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 15:59, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
