The small book by Catherine Edith Godman (1971) lists the 13 children of Joseph Godman (31 May 1791 - 26 Oct 1874 ) and Caroline Smith ( - 27 Jun 1882)

  • Joseph (11 Aug 1831 - )
  • Richard Temple (19 Dec 1832 - 11 Dec 1912)
  • Frederick DuCane (15 Jan 1834 - 19 Feb 1919)
  • Caroline (18 May 1835 - 12 Apr 1860) (aged 24)
  • Percy Sanden (12 Nov 1836 - 19 Feb 1922)
  • Ellen (18 May 1838 - July 1911)
  • Mary (2 Dec 1839 - 7 Apr 1912)
  • Edith (30 May 1841 - 4 Apr 1858) (aged 16)
  • Arthur Fitzpatrick (18 Nov 1842 - 30 Apr 1930)
  • Edmund Temple (14 Jun 1844 - 22 Mar 1894)
  • Charlotte Ella (2 Jan 1846 - 4 Jan 1919)
  • Bertha (6 Mar 1847 - 23 May 1925)
  • Charles Bulkeley (8 Jun 1849 - [18 Jan] 1941)

The birth dates are also given in Burke, Bernard (1879). A genealogical and heraldic history of the landed gentry of Great Britain & Ireland. Vol. Volume 1 (6th ed.). London: Harrison. p. 652. {{cite book}}: |volume= has extra text (help)

There is disagreement on the year of Frederick Ducane Godman's first marriage to Edith Mary Elwes. Godman (1971 p. 15) gives May 1873, Burke gives May 1874 and the anonymous author of the 1908 "Original members" article in the Ibis gives 1872. - Aa77zz (talk) 06:56, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A scan of the Civil Registration index information for England and Wales (GRO Index) for Cirencester available here indicates that the marriage took place between April and June 1873. This supports the year given by Godman 1971. - Aa77zz (talk) 11:20, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent: this confirms the amendments I had already made wrt marriage dates etc for FDuCane Godman in July 2020, using online copies of the GRO register. Freebmd is not always reliable (it is a work in progress!) and it is always necessary to check the scans of the original register. Foiled circuitous wanderer (talk) 20:27, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
