[edit]of the match at Lords on 27 May 1878, the article says, "the might of the MCC was dismissed twice in one day at the fortress of English cricket for paltry scores of just 33 and nineteen. The colonists won by nine wickets, with Spofforth picking up ten for twenty after first clean-bowling Grace for a duck." no source is quoted.
the Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News for Saturday 1 June 1878 carries a whole page report of the match on page 8, complete with bowling analysis. it credits Spofforth with the following figures: 1st Inn: 5.3 overs, 3 maidens, 4 runs, 6 wickets; 2nd Inn: 9 overs, 2 maidens, 16 runs, 5 wickets; which makes 11 wickets for 20 runs.
