Does anyone know where FW Woolworth got the first christmas decorations from. It is beleived that he introduced them to America in 1890. Did he travel to Europe at all.
Reply re decorations etc: There is an extensive archive of information about Franklin Woolworth and the development of the stores on the company history web site run by the United Kingdom Woolworths company - and a whole web page tells the story of how he got involved in selling decorations. Take a look at Woolworths Museum Web Site and then select "Christmas" in the menu at the top, and then "Decorations" on the page that that link leads to. If you navigate around that site, you will also find the story of FWW's journeys to Europe, and how the stores came to be set up in the UK. 82.29.215.250 14:07, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
brother?
I read in World Book that he founded Woolworth with his brother Charles 1856-1947, why no mention here? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.105.209.231 (talk) 05:38, 7 January 2007 (UTC). Never mind i didn't read it close enough still more about him, what happen to his fortune and family, it would be nice to know if someone could fill in.
- There's some information about the family and the fortune on the English Woolworth Museum's website. Wikipedia itself has an article about F.W.'s granddughter, one of this three heirs, Barbara Hutton, who spent most of her share. Some part of the Woolworth fortune ended up financing the Helena Woolworth McCann collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. I don't know what ultimately became of Jessie Woolworth Donahue's portion of the $51,000,000 estate. Whyaduck 05:15, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Woolworths Virtual Museum web site
Some information derives from the "Woolworth Virtual Museum" which was a web site hosted on a sub-domain of the UK Woolworths site. With the administration of Woolworths Plc, the site has been taken down. However, the site was created and maintained by volunteers and they are planning to get it back up in the new year. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.29.215.181 (talk) 23:35, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

David Kean.
I removed the sentence "He is the great-grandfather of historian David Kean" which I found at the end of the first paragraph. A Google search of the internet finds nothing, nor is there a Wikipedia article. If there is a David Kean, he is not prominent enough to warrant a sentence in this article.
