[edit]I entered some minor changes: Bianchini did not construct the meridian in Bologna, which was the work of Cassini (1655).

You have only to take a glance at the article about Francesco Bianchini in the Italian wikipedia to perceive its weak point: The English article reduces Bianchini to the field of astronomy.
Therefore, I would not consider it to be a biographical article at all, but an attempt to evaluate Bianchini as an astronomer. In 2004 there were two international meetings concerning Bianchini, in Augsburg and in Verona, and there has been published quite a lot about him since. I would expect the authors of the wikipedia article to have taken this into consideration. Ulrich Voigt 201.9.240.64 03:49, 17 April 2007 (UTC) |
