Why I rewrote this article.

This article was tagged for original research so I checked its sources. Some of them were dead, one source had a copy error (placing the fort on the wrong waterway) and another was just puff. So I found solid, publicly available sources and rewrote it. ("Wade in," they say... "Be bold," they say...)
