[edit]It seems this page was recently edited by persons not residing in Forest Row, changing the layout and content which has been built up recently by local contributors. The changes have been undone! Smg1965 (talk) 13:15, 3 May 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Smg1965 (talk • contribs) 13:12, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'm a local resident, editing pages on places is not restricted to local residents however. I've restored the improvements by Peter Shearan. The article had too many sections that were just one paragraph long and there were lots of other little things that needed fixing too. Bill (talk|contribs) 13:38, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- rotfllalp ! That sounds like something out of The League of Gentlemen (comedy). I suggest that you watch it and then read Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- John (Tubbs) (Daytona2 · Talk · Contribs) 19:46, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
Fantastic comedy series Tubbs! Wiki guidelines talk about consensus so deleting and moving other peoples content might be considered a little 1984 (1984 film), great film watch it, discuss it with authors first and use a bit of common sense and respect the Five_pillars! Editing
[edit]The Wikipedia notes on writing about settlements[1], give clear recommendations on the setting out of an article such as this. The notes are very useful, since they give editors the opportunity to see what information might be included. One of the snags about the original article was the fact that there was a lot of disparate facts, unlinked to others on the same topic. There were also a number of sweeping statements: "a number of schools" (and then only two are mentioned, unreferenced); "several famous pieces of literature (one); "many practising ...". There are very many instances up and down the country of places claiming to be the "last place of public hanging": in fact the last one was not until 1868 over fifty years later than the one quoted here.
Lists are not encouraged: an article should be in prose. Words such a "famous" or "well-known" are also no-nos - who are they famous to? often not to many readers! I have also now included all the references (and every statement should be referenced if at all possible). Peter Shearan (talk) 09:59, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- You have moved the Open Directory Project dmoz link into references. You need to be more explicit, using inline references, preferably, to comply with Wikipedia:Verifiability. -- John (Daytona2 · Talk · Contribs) 10:42, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
The line in Geography about the copper roofed houses was limited to Gage Ridge, however the houses with copper roofs are also in Michael Fields. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.11.174.207 (talk) 14:26, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

- The websites for Forest Players and Ashdown Pantomimers have changed, to http://www.forestplayers.co.uk/ and https://forestrowpanto.co.uk/ respectively, which I've now changed. I've also tidied up some other out-of-date info too. (I'm a resident btw, in case you were wondering ;) ) Memassivbeast (talk) 03:59, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
