name of article
[edit]It should be "Footballer of the Year in Russia", not "Russian Footballer of the Year". The point is the place he plays, not his nationality. DGtal (talk) 17:50, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
Version
[edit]- "Sport-Express" version is not first version. Officially, "Football" weekly is 1st choice in Russia.--Oleg Abarnikov (talk) 11:37, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Moved and a dab page was created at Footballer of the Year in Russia — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:12, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
Footballer of the Year in Russia → Footballer of the Year in Russia (Sport-Express) – Rename back. Another similar award Footballer of the Year in Russia (Futbol) exist. 194.50.51.252 (talk) 11:15, 23 March 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. — Amakuru (talk) 14:14, 31 March 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. - Oppose as proposed. The proposal doesn't change the primary topic for the title "Footballer of the Year in Russia", and the primary topic doesn't need a parenthetical qualifier. If the proposal is that there is no longer a primary topic, that should be made explicitly. -- JHunterJ (talk) 11:42, 28 March 2017 (UTC)
- Sport-Express award is not more prestigious then Futbol award. Their values are approximately equal. The disambig page should be placed in Footballer of the Year in Russia. 194.50.51.252 (talk) 18:33, 30 March 2017 (UTC)
- No evidence that one is more prestigious than another. And in any case how are English readers meant to know anyway. Move back. In ictu oculi (talk) 14:23, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
- There's a misconception: I didn't decide there was a primary topic. I merely discovered the arrangement where there was a primary topic (that is, a base name led to an article) except that it had a parenthetical qualifier. I fixed it (see WP:PRECISION). The proposal here is to change from a primary topic to no primary topic. I have no opinion on that, and if the move request is instead to move this back to a qualified title and also replace the base name with a disambiguation page, cheers if it succeeds. But my "moving back" wouldn't solve that, since that would simply restore the previous erroneous arrangement. -- JHunterJ (talk) 17:43, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

- Support move back. Football weekly is the oldest edition about football in Russia. Despite of creative crisis, the "Football" version has more rights to called without name specification than the version of Sport-Express. But Sport-Express is also popular, so Footballer of the Year in Russia must be disambig.--Soul Train (talk) 20:46, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- Support as no clear primary topic. GiantSnowman 18:14, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
