Merging with Reboot (dc comics)

I would suggest that as this is going to be a fairly significant comics event, and there is already a shedload of coverage at reliable sites, that Reboot (dc comics) be renamed something more fitting, like 2011 DC Universe reboot, and that page be used for this event, with the current coverage at Flashpoint merged into this. Flashpoint is more a story line leading up to this, and I think the event itself should be covered seperately.

I've also suggested a minor informal workgroup team up to collaborate and try and make sure this is covered fairly well. It's on the discussion page over at wp:comics if this tickles your fancy. • Oppose- as in oppose remerging. Keeping the contents of 2011 DC Universe Reboot in Flashpoint would make it hard for people interested in one and not the other to find info on this. Also, while the article is somewhat slapshod at the moment, I would anticipate an increase in coverage and interest in the build up to the event, allowing a much more detailed article to develop. • Oppose Putting these two in the same article would be like putting the 2010/11 NHL Hockey Season in the same article as the 2011 NHL Entry draft. Editing

As I mentioned above in the Reboot Merging section, this article is overlong and doesn't meet the Wikipedia standards. I'm planning to edit this article, especially paying close attention to the plot section. But I don't want to drop a bomb on it and completely change it all at once. So I'm planning to start with a subsection. The Heroes section will be my first project. From there on and when the edited section is approved or when a consensus has been reached, I'll pick up the main plot (planning to divide into five sections, corresponding with the publictaions). After that I'll pick up the other parts.

Since I'm from the Netherlands and I'm relying on the digital publications for my iPhone, I'm about four weeks behind on the actual release dates. So feel free to contribute pieces of the story I have not yet included.

Be aware that this will be a work in progress. Meaning long and slow process. Between my work and family (wife and child) I don't have a huge amount of free time. But I don't want to rush things so don't be surprised if this little project of mine is not finished before november. Heroes/Villain

I didn't read the whole crossover (just the Batman mini), but I doubt all the characters listed in the Heroes and Villains sections were important to the main story. Maybe there could be a separate page listing all the different versions of characters that weren't essential to the plot? (See House of M)Argento Surfer (talk) 15:49, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

Hmm. I dunno, you'd be surprised. Enchantress and Element Woman for instance, are otherwise (versions of) minor characters in DCU from what I can tell (well, not as familiar with Enchantress' origins, but Element Woman is basically an AU version of Element Girl who is exceptionally minor), but I can confirm from having just finished the actual Flashpoint collection that they each played a pivotal role in the events of those five issues - which means they played a pivotal role in the resolution of the story.

So too did Cyborg, Kal-El (who doesn't even really get FOUND until towards the end), the kids who make up Captain Thunder, Thomas Wayne... it's a really, truly massive event with a lot of stuff going on at once. Even the Flash's mom plays an important role (after appearing in pretty much every issue), as she's the one who really convinces him to set the timeline right again. Weirdly, in fact, Wonder Woman and Aquaman don't quite feel like "main characters" since you hardly see them, yet their actions towards each other cause most of the crisis the other characters face, and kill millions of people (they're effectively the major villains). So you can't count them as "minor" in that story either.

Funnily enough, the only "major DC characters" I can think of who absolutely don't play a role, despite being mentioned, are the Green Lanterns; we see Abin Sur (who's still Green Lantern for our sector in this timeline) mentioned, but this is basically just to show off another difference that Barry Allen can pick up on: that Hal Jordan and thus also John Stewart never picked up a Green Lantern ring and so are normal humans. Abin Sur, or any other Lantern, never pops up again in that main story, not even in the final battle, and Hal Jordan appears in exactly one scene, where he's a pilot going off to bomb Amazon-dominated UK. Then he gets killed off-screen. Poor Hal, not much role there!

A lot of the other ones are minor though... that Outsider dude for instance, and Blackout, appear just long enough to seem kind of interesting and then don't play much of a role in the story afterwards. Likewise most of the Secret Six. And of course, Krypto appears... as a corpse (I suspect that other than shock value, that's included merely to show that they really have figured out Kryptonian weaknesses, thus explaining why Kal-el has been kept in red sunlight to keep his powers from manifesting).

Honestly, there are so MANY characters that play a role, including several alternate versions of "minor" characters, that just to make complete sense of it, I had to look up this article (where I was saddened to learn Element Woman is just an alternate version of now-dead Element Girl, and not a super-awesome character that I'll ever see again, for instance). 68.202.85.105 (talk) 22:24, 16 September 2012 (UTC)

Secret Seven

Currently there is a link to Secret Six page for Secret Seven, but only similarity between titles is that they sound similar so its not the place for information about Secret Seven. Now, question is what to do with it? Creating a separate article sounds a bit unnecessary considering that this was pretty niche title and we are unlikely to hear this groups name again. Now first, easier option, is just to remove links to Secret Six page(and redirect from secret seven page) and forget about it. Next option that i'm somewhat considering is expanding information about this title in Justice League Dark article because it is already mentioned there briefly, was done by same writer and good amount of characters from Secret Seven made reappearance in JLD so its kinda like spiritual continuation or something along those lines.
