Assessment
[edit]I am assessing this article to B quality. Although it is not very long, the information in it well referenced and it is well wrote and I don't see how much more information could be added. Charles Edward 02:22, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

GA Review

Hi! I will be conducting the GA review of this article, and should have the full review up within a couple of hours. Dana boomer (talk) 18:07, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
- It is reasonably well written.
- a (prose): b (MoS):
- In the first sentence of the "History" section, you say "the Indiana General Assembly issued resolution to adopt a state flag." Should this be "issued a resolution"?
- In the last sentence of the "Iconography" section, you say "and the one large star above the torch to represent Indiana." This reads slightly awkwardly. Could it be reworded to something like "and the one large star above the torch represents Indiana."?
- a (prose): b (MoS):
- It is factually accurate and verifiable.
- a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
- The "Iconography" section has no references. Because this section is discussing the meanings of each part of the flag, rather than just the design itself (which anyone can see), this really should be referenced.
- a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
- It is broad in its coverage.

If the few things that I've detailed above are resolved, I will pass the article as GA. I am putting this article on hold for seven days to allow time for the editors to make these minor changes. If there are any questions, I can be contact here on the review page (I have it watchlisted) or on my talk page. Overall, this is a well-written and referenced article that is very close to GA standard. Dana boomer (talk) 18:19, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
- I have addressed the issues you noted above, and added two footnotes to the section mentioned, which where the same refs used to right the rest of the article. Thanks for you review. Charles Edward 20:36, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
- Looks good. I am passing the article now. Dana boomer (talk) 12:01, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
Mooresville picture
[edit]I was driving South on Hwy 67 a few weeks ago and passed the "Welcome to Mooresville" sign, which sported an Indiana flag and said (something like) "Home of the Indiana State Flag". Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera on me, but it would be a good addition to this article if anyone travels that direction. Mingusboodle (talk) 03:52, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
Flag of the State of Indiana
[edit]Indiana state statute defines this flag as the "Flag of the State of Indiana". --Buaidh (talk) 15:12, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
- We should probably move the article then to the correct name. Charles Edward (Talk) 16:00, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
- I diagree. What statue? Indiana Code: IC 1-2-2-1 nowhere says "Flag of the State of Indiana". The header says "Indiana State Flag," which is a general term; the text only has "state flag." Also, this article should be consistent with every other flag article. I believe the same for the state seal, even though it has that text on it. It is otherwise referred to as the Indiana State Seal. Reywas92Talk 21:14, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
Self-link
[edit]Hello, isn't the self-link to Paul Hadley in the first line of the article a problem ? --Maurilbert (talk) 01:09, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
History
[edit]The flag currently used dates back to 1916, the centennial of the state's founding. This begs the question what, if any, flag was in use before then? Inquiring minds want to know...Jmdeur (talk) 21:13, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
- Something I myself have wondered. I have tried to see if there was a common battle flag used during the Civil War, or other wars, for Indiana units, but I have not been able to come up with anything. —Charles Edward (Talk | Contribs) 22:28, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
- I have no idea how official or widespread it was, but this older flag appears in a 1903 book I found while working on a different article. Brian the Editor (talk) 16:09, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
- Brian the Editor, thank-you for that link. I've been trying to find the answer to this question for a long time. The flag you linked to is basically just the Indiana State Seal on a flag. The index of this legislative manual names the illustration as the state flag. This would make a great addition to the article if we could get a little more info, and maybe a clearer picture. Canute (talk) 00:43, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
- OK, I added it. I think it definitely belongs, but perhaps one of you could rearrange the article so it looks more presentable, or maybe add some text about the previous flag. Canute (talk) 14:22, 11 November 2015 (UTC)

GA from 2008. Has been tagged for needing additional citations for verification and an over reliance on primary sources. Onegreatjoke (talk) 17:06, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
Paul Hadley
[edit]I am interested in creating a separate Wikipedia page for Paul Hadley, but his name links to this Wikipedia page. Does anybody know how to unlink his name from this article? HoosierMan1816 (talk) 02:58, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
