Question of command
[edit]Is anybody able to explain to me why Johnston was considered to be Beauregard's senior although he received his commission as a Confederate brigadier AFTER Beauregard (14 May vs. 1 March)? --Reibeisen (talk) 20:16, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
- Johnston was a Brigadier General in the ACSA, the Confederate regular army, while Beauregard's rank was in the PACS, the provisional wartime army. Regular officers were automatically senior to non-regular officers of the same rank, regardless of the dates of their commissions. ...GELongstreet (talk) 20:45, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
