This page should not be merged with escrow. At most, a reference to the general similarity of this Roman law concept with that of a trust should be included. Todowd (talk) 00:53, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- Agreed. I've removed the notice. Geuiwogbil (Talk) 23:28, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
Fideicommis
[edit]May I ask why Fideicommis redirects to Fee tail and not here? I don't get it :( -- Ата (talk) 15:57, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
- This was due to the fact that the German and Roman law use the term in two differing senses, see (1) de:Familienfideikommiss (German law) and (2) de:Fideikommiss (römisches Recht) (Roman law). Our article reflects #2, redirect (now changed) reflected #1. We most likely need to create a separate article for #1. Викидим (talk) 13:43, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
Latin terms of art without translations/explanations or links to explanations
[edit]I am saddened, having come to this page to learn something about the Roman law of trusts, to find it full of untranslated Latin terms of legal art, without explanations/translations or links to same. I've tried googling these and running them through Google Translate without luck in many cases.
I applaud that the page has been written but think it's genuinely sad it's so opaque. This is a page for learning, not a page for someone who knows the material already. Anyone who knows the material will find no reason to visit the page, and necessarily find no use in a page which tells them what they know. In order to be of use, the page needs be written so as to be understandable to people who don't know the material, which means that the Latin terms of legal art need to be explained in a very few words, preferably on the page, or linked to a page which does explain or translate in a very few words. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andronico75 (talk • contribs) 17:46, 10 September 2016 (UTC)
Incomprehensible
[edit]This article needs to be rewritten in plain English, without untranslated Latin terms and without unnecessary legal jargon. Wikipedia articles are supposed to explain their topic; they are not intended as vehicle to show off how erudite the author is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:BEE1:31A0:E0E0:ED07:6108:4266 (talk) 10:20, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
Same Wikidata unit?
[edit]Is this same Wikidata unit: wikidata:Q685621 vs wikidata:Q2596334?--Estopedist1 (talk) 09:03, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
- There are actually two different meanings of the Latin term, so as a result of the redirect, sadly, yet another Wikidata item had appeared, wikidata:Q1117586. See #Fideicommis above. Pinging TSventon who performed the merge on Wikidata. Викидим (talk) 13:49, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
