Comparison with other types

[edit]

I am about to make a drastic revision of the section, eliminating nearly all the comparisons with the SM.79 which is mainly peripheral information at best. A few simple statements indicating the superiority of the SM.79 should suffice. Comments? FWIW Bzuk 20:37, 2 December 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Agree - sounds like some of it was written by the SM.79 fan club, mostly not relevant. MilborneOne 20:42, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agree - I've tried to trim it down, but it could still do with major axe work.Nigel Ish 23:17, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Churchill quote

[edit]

I removed the following uncited text:

"On the same day, the Italian fleet was torpedoed at Taranto, so Churchill said: "It was better for them, rest to protect their fleet in Italy."[citation needed]"

While it is quite likely that Churchill said something pithy on this ocasion, the quote is completly uncited and appears to have been mangled in translation. If a cite can be found that states what he actually said, then it may be able to go backNigel Ish (talk) 19:29, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As Churchill remarked of the hapless Italian raiders of the Medway incursion: "They might have found better employment defending their Fleet at Taranto [1]. MilborneOne (talk) 19:52, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More of the same

[edit]

Well, here's another one of those "comprehensive" articles! I can see that a vast amount of hard work has already been done by some valiant editors, but on first sight it seems there is still a need for readability and grammar polishing. Further trimming would be useful, but I'm afraid I might edit out portions that others may have laboured on for some time and so I'm a bit reluctant to make a start. At least there is a sprinkling of inline references through this article! --Red Sunset 22:21, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Armstrong Whitworth Whitley

[edit]

Armstrong - Whitworth Whitley should be added on the list of comparable aircraft. Korina (talk) 20:11, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
