Atsme Awhile ago, some drive-by editor decided we did not need a Rodeo performers (general) category, and in the discussion, consensus agreed. The category was deleted and several articles were moved to Rodeo performers, a diffused category. Most of the stray articles here have been hard to find a more specific home for. This article which is in the category does not appear from reading that the subject competed in any actual rodeo events but only competed in cutting. I know this is an article you've been involved in so perhaps you could clear it up. Would it be accurate to say she has not competed in rodeo events and remove that category? Or has she competed in them and we need to find out which ones so we can add those rodeo event categories and remove her from the diffused Rodeo performers category? Would appreciate your thoughts, thanks. dawnleelynn(talk)18:58, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
My thinking is to leave Rodeo performers as is, and when you come across an NCHA Hall of Famer, include the category NCHA Hall of Fame (riders). It is highly unlikely that people searching for cutters will look in a rodeo category and vice versa so you need both. Atsme📞📧19:33, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Atsme Thanks for your quick response. So leave them in the diffused Rodeo performers category for now? I'm fine with that logic. But if at some point down the road, there get to be too many for a diffused category, we can a add sub-category for them later? I know there's not a lot right now and that might be far down the road, LOL. dawnleelynn(talk)19:39, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Atsme Okay, maybe I've confused you a bit. The Rodeo performers does have all the event categories already, but it doesn't have one for cutters, so Fern is at the top level in the diffused category because, like I said in the first post, others decided that a general category went against the MOS or whatever policy. Sorry my bad! Category:Rodeo performers. dawnleelynn(talk)19:48, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Uh huh, but don't add one for cutters. Cutting hasn't been a "rodeo event" since the inception of the NCHA back in the 40s. While some Livestock Show & Rodeo events may offer cutting, it's an NCHA event, not a PRCA/rodeo event...and neither is showing cattle, Quarter Horses, Paints, etc. during a Livestock Show & Rodeo. Atsme Yes, I know it's not a rodeo event. Which is why I was asking about you about it. We can worry about it later if the number of articles grows very high for a diffused category. Thanks again. It's all good. dawnleelynn(talk)20:07, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
