Failed "good article" nomination
[edit]This article failed good article nomination. This is how the article, as of June 28, 2007, compares against the six good article criteria:
- 1. Well written?: Overall, well done here. There are, however, odd instances of British English spelling and grammar for no detectable reason. Please be consistent, preferably American English, since the subject is American. The sentence that begins "The cover of the promo CD for the single..." is out of place. I suggest moving it to the background section. "and, as of 2006, only..." is a problem. The "as of" feature, though not deprecated, should pretty much only be used if the information cannot be updated (or at least not easily). It is preferable to use the {{Update after|YYYY|MM|DD}} template, appearing immediately after the sentence in question. Also, this can be verified to date (2007), so please do so.
- Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 00:57, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- 2. Factually accurate?: Good amount of references, and good inline citations. This sentence, though, "The film and the music had to be..." is missing a citation.
- Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 01:02, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- 3. Broad in coverage?: Good here. A sample of the song would be fantastic. A little more fleshing out wouldn't hurt. Professional reviews are needed in the infobox. MetaCritic.com should help in this regard. Pardon the title, but the article "1987 (What the Fuck Is Going On?)" is a great example of how a song article might be. Another good (simpler and more recent) example is "Hollaback Girl."
- Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 01:15, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- 4. Neutral point of view?: Nice neutrality. (more reviews)
- Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 01:15, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- 5. Article stability? Extremely stable, but not many contributors. You might invite some experienced users to come in and take a peek at it.
- 6. Images?: Biggest issue. No fair use rationales on Image:FastAsYouCanUK2.jpg or Image:FastAsYouCanPromo.jpg. Must be fixed.

When these issues are addressed, the article can be resubmitted for consideration. If you feel that this review is in error, feel free to take it to a GA review. Thank you for your work so far. — Esprit15d (talk ¤ contribs) 17:18, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I was one of the major contributors to the article (which explains the "odd instances of British English spelling and grammar" :D) and had no idea it had been nominated for GA status. If I find the time I'll try to incorporate your suggestions - that is, if someone else doesn't do so first. Extraordinary Machine 22:14, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
GA Re-nomination
[edit]After fixing some errors, I have re-nominated this article for GA. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 01:16, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
GAN Comments
[edit]Fast as You Can – GAN Comments
- Could you please specify at least the month the single was released in the US?
- Remove the chart position in the infobox; it’s a deprecated field.
- I thought its part of the lead; just a long title. Use the short form of the album’s title.
- Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 01:15, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- You can change “first single” to “lead single” and wikilink it.
- Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 01:15, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Remove “(see 1999 in music)” because its pauses the flow of the prose. Instead, wikilink 1999 in music to “1999” in “early 1999”.
- Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 01:15, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Same with 2000 in music; but do not link the month, just the year.
- Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 01:15, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- ”successful singles” to “successful single”.
- Mention in the lead the genre of the song and some of its background.
- Apple said that with “Fast as You Can”.
- Use single quotation marks for Strawberry Fields.
- Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 01:18, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- The reviews must be in another section. Try to use “Release and reception” and then expand the content with the releases, additional info besides the cover.
- The extra cover needs to be removed. No need to illustrate, though; unless you explained stuffs about the cover in the article.
- Remove the period in the caption of the screenshot.
- I can’t see if she’s in the subway. Too close-up: just her and the light.
- With the crew he used…
- It premiered or was premiered?
- In the video, Apple
- That is why Apple’s…
- It was nominated during the 2000…
- With media sources. Please be specific. It is the critics, or state who said this.
- made a strong debut. Sounds POV. Also, there is no backup to support why the album was strong that time.
- Actually, ARC Weekly is not an official chart. But because of its few charted markets, I think it’s reasonable to mention it.
- The single was released in Japan; was there any performances the single had in that country?
- Make sure you use the en dash for the track listings.
- Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 01:43, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- For the citation, to avoid confusing format, enclose the publication date with a parenthesis.
- Please feel free to object. This was not reviewed against the sources, so wait for the final reviewer's decision. --BritandBeyonce (talk) 04:12, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Comment: The article would benefit from a discussion of the song's live performance. The lead section also needs to tell me why the song is notable a little more than it does, perhaps by mentioning the topic of the song. Hyacinth (talk) 02:20, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
GA on hold
[edit]- "and produced by Jon Brion for her second album, When the Pawn... (1999)." - remove the "..." and the 1999
- Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 06:17, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
- "According to Jon Brion, he knew "exactly" what he wanted the song to sound like" - awkward. try "Jon Brion says he knew "exactly...like (insert quote there)"
- Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 06:15, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
- A lot of Brion quotes. Try add more prose that you've written
- Same with the next paras. Look at some other song GAs for examples
- "The cover of the promo CD for the single in the U.S. was drawn by Apple" - can you expand on this at all? What did people think of her drawing it, etc.?
- "Anderson shot the video in Pasadena, California[9] " - ref needs punctuation under it. move to end of sentence?
- "It charted at number twenty-three on the ARC Weekly Top 40[14]" - again
- Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 01:40, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Needs more on reception/critique of song itself (move comments from background section to a seperate one and expand) see for example I Don't Remember
- Need ref for the Adult 40 chart stuff
- Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 03:41, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
