[edit]Fashion week is a big thing in the fashion world. This is where designers, artists, and fashion designers can be creative. Nowadays, the fashion industry is diverse, with different body types and races. Fashion week is eccentric - is a way to show and appreciate different body types, and unique fashion designs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Raquelvaz1121 (talk • contribs) 06:46, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

LA Fashion Week
[edit]Anyone looking to open the Los Angeles Fashion Week page should check Mercedes-Benz Fashion week they coordinate both LA and NY now. LaVieEntiere 02:52, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Other Fashion Weeks
[edit]This section is becoming a listing of large cities, where fashion always plays a role. I propose the following: Unless the city has a "Fashion Week" (and a citation is provided to it) it doesn't belong on the Fashion Week article. Otherwise, we can list all major cities, since major cities tend to be places where fashion is important. But the article is about Fashion Week, and unless a city has one, it doesn't belong. --DavidShankBone 17:44, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Well i don't understand why Toronto's fashion week is listed, and not Montreal's? Montreal fashion week (semaine de mode de Montreal SMM) is way bigger then TOronto's, and much mor eimportant...i owuld say it could rank in the top 10....many stars dresses in Montreal now, like Fergie for example. so i hope someone can change something....

Essex fashion week is the second largest fashion week in the UK with national coverage, held twice a year typically end of march early april and october. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.0.39.149 (talk) 13:07, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
notability guidelines
[edit]For a fashion week to be included on this page, I propose that at a minimum there should be national coverage of it. Charleston fashion week, for instance is only covered in local papers and is hardly notable as far as fashion weeks go. Its website says they are inviting local retailers to create collections. This seems unworthy of inclusion in a wikipedia article on fashion week, so I am re-removing it. Calliopejen1 15:52, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. I also think a fashion week should have existed for a period of time, say three years. It's great there are other fashion weeks that are popping up around the world, but I am more concerned that these are "one-offs" than anything noteable enough for staying power such as Tokyo, London, New York, etc.... --David Shankbone 21:10, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Unless consensus disagrees, I am going to remove all Fashion Weeks that are referenced and/or have not existed for at least three consecutive years to comply with notability guidelines. --David Shankbone 17:32, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Spring collection
[edit]Even if not so notable, the Filipina Spring collection must be included here, due to the fact that the maker is a tycoon and known worldwide in this line.

'Upcoming fashion weeks'
[edit]Is this section really needed or appropriate? I was going to delete it per WP:NOT but was unable to find anything specific about such matters. If there is no dissent within about a week I may remove it. If it is necessary then it can be re-instated. --Hydraton31 (talk) {Contributions} 19:44, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
- Deleting per WP:CBALL. These individual events are not individually notable. --Hydraton31 (talk) {Contributions} 21:54, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
the Fashion Capitals
[edit]In the article's intro it's claimed : the most prominent fashion weeks are held in the fashion capitals Milan, London, New York, São Paulo and Paris I think Sao Paulo can be safely removed from this list as Brazil's most internationally renowned contribution to fashion lately has been for their models and not for their designers or brands which still don't have such a great international representation. It seems from looking at the article history that many cities have been added, possibly by loyals of one locale or another, before being removed and this might be the case with Sao Paulo too. I think if there can't be agreement on what five cities have the most important fashion weeks (Tokyo seems the most obvious omitted candidate, the most prominent week in a market vastly larger than Brazil's) then the article should just stick to the relatively unvontroversial top four. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Allstarvonwunderbar (talk • contribs) 21:14, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Project
[edit]Hi everyone! Over the next few weeks, I will be working with this article for a technical editing course project. I would love to hear any feedback on my edits or discussions on possible edits. So far, I have come up with a few changes that this article needs:
- More citations
- Improved sentences (grammar and structure)
- Reorganization
I did some organizational work, along with renaming most of the titles because they were a misleading for their content. I also combined the sections Paris Fashion Parades and New York and the First “Fashion Week” into one.
- Paris Fashion Parades and New York and the First “Fashion Week” renamed History
- "Big Four" Fashion Weeks renamed About
I added links to the individual fashion week pages (Paris, New York, Milan, London) whenever they were mentioned in the article.
Revisions - Completed and Needed
[edit]After spending the last few weeks analyzing this article, here is the changes I have made:
- Combined Paris Fashion Parades and the First "Fashion Week" and renamed the new section History
- Changed the name of Big Four's Fashion Weeks section to About
- Added links to New York, London, Milan, and Paris fashion week pages (along with other various fashion weeks and brands)
- Reworded the "see now, buy now" lines to more clearly explain the idea and moved it from the Timing of the Events section to About
- Created a more encyclopedic tone to make the article sound more professional
- Fixed grammar mistakes
- Rearranged the order of information to a more logical order
Here are the changes that still need to be done:
- There is lost content in the History section that I think is necessary to complete the article and make it more sufficient.
- There are big chunks of information that need citations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bah2019 (talk • contribs) 06:09, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
I think there could be some information on the controversies of this topic because these kinds of shows always carry tension. In addition, there are many places in the article that lack citations. Perhaps adding more citations and or more details to topics such as history would be useful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Willandrade24 (talk • contribs) 22:14, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

LA Fashion Week!?
[edit]Does it really warrant mention in the top section? I think not.

Hello fellow Wikipedians,
In the next couple weeks, I will be revising and editing this article for an energy and sustainability course project. I would appreciate any feedback on my proposed edits, which I will be working on in my user sandbox. So far, my planned changes to the article include:
- Adding a subheading under the About section on the sustainability of fashion week. Specifically, how fashion week has reduced the waste generated by shows, the downstream environmental consequences of attracting international attendants, and how fashion week influences sustainable transitions in the fashion industry.
- Updating and adding citations to the About section.
I especially welcome feedback about the relevance of this topic to the article and the resources I chose which address it.
Thanks!
