Eve, I translated the article into Portuguese, but I have three questions:

1) Can you find the quotes of Veríssimo e Sabino in the original version? I have Correspondencias here, so you just need to cite the book page. As for Sabino, I will need the entire quote. Thanks!

2) What is the bibliography/sources for the wonderful analysis that you develop about the book and its relationship to Clarice's own life and so forth? Do you have any references to include in the bottom of the pag?

Also, can you please check the -pt version and say what you think? I would love to insert an image with the book cover, but I think we can't. Do you have any other ideas of images in the public domain that could be included in the Wikimedia Commons?

Hi Editor br!

Thank you for your kind comments and I am glad that you have been able to use it in the Portuguese version. I'm just seeing this now so I'm sorry I couldn't answer you earlier.

To answer your questions - here are the quotes in Portuguese. I think the first one is in Correspondencias but would have to check (I'm not home now). The second is in the book of correspondence b/w CL and FS called "Cartas perto do coracao":

September 3, 1961 ÉRICO VERISSIMO

“Não te escrevi sobre o teu livro de contos por puro encabulamento de te dizer o que penso dele. Aqui vai: é o mais importante coleção de histórias publicadas neste país na era pos-machadiana.”

March 30, 1955 from FERNANDO SABINO

Page 124. “você fez oito contos como ninguém nem longinquamente conseguiu fazer no Brasil ... [o livro] seria exata, sincera, indiscutível e até humildemente o melhor livro de contos já publicado no Brasil.”

2) I think a good source for this is the admirable book by Licia Manzo, Era uma vez EU. A very interesting book. I don't know about images, but it seems that there have been lots of adaptations of these stories in the cinema and theater of Brazil. Nothing comes to mind but that might be a good approach. I'll think about it.

Also, I don't want to put my email address here but it might be quicker if we got in touch privately. Because I don't always check this and might miss your queries. Is there any way to do it without making it so visible?

In the Portuguese, I would only suggest that you might include the name of the collection Alguns contos a bit earlier in the paragraph, so that it is clear that this is the book we are talking about. Also, you could link to A paixao segundo GH. By the way, I revised this a couple of days ago so that it should be more complete. Good work and many thanks! We're getting there!
