Movies from General to Restricted... is this correct by Canadian ratings?
[edit]For Canadian Channels, it makes more sense to use the Canadian ratings systems. "General to Restricted" in American means "General to NC-17". If NC-17 is not the case, the Canadian rating should say 18A, not restricted. All I really want to do is get a clear idea.
Family Changing the Orders of the Episodes
[edit]In the article, it says that Family runs episodes in Proction Code
Family Channel run episodes episodes of their programming by production code order, instead of the order of their original broadcast run on American and other foreign channels.
However, as of September 06 2007, I noticed that several shows on Family is now being aired according to episode number, like Cory in the House and Hanna Montanna for example. On some shows, however, they still air the shows according to Production Code, like That's So Raven. Should it be mentioned that Family is now starting to air episodes according to episode number? Playhouuse Disney logo
[edit]Is the Playhouse Disney logo actually used on-air in the Canadian version the top half of the "head" (like in the US), or the whole head (as depictedin the Family article)? Personally, we should use what's actually used on-air. -- azumanga (talk) 03:56, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Only the top half is used and is usually shown in the bottom right corner of the screen. In some segments, but not very often, the whole head is shown in the middle of the screen, but I've only seen that like once. -- User:CameronB (User talk:CameronB) 01:29, 13 March 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.6.204.135 (talk)
Other Shows
[edit]I noticed that some shows like Phineas and Ferb aren't on the list. The do it on the weekends, but if it's there then what section does it belong to? Gnaturefantasy (talk) 22:06, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- If this article has a List of programs brodcasted by... then it would belong there. --Emarsee (Talk • Contribs) 00:52, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
ads
[edit]they started doing ads in between segments of shows.Mrpengo88 (talk) 17:13, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
does anyone know why Family Channel doesnt play its old shows like Mad Dash? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.72.199.120 (talk) 20:28, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
Mad Dash wasn't a show, it was a block on the channel. Anyways, yes, they did do that in 2010, but stopped again in 2011, but I don't know why... probably heavy advertisement requests by Disney... maybe... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.6.204.135 (talk) 20:25, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
Name: Family Channel?
[edit]Astral's recent press releases imply that the official name is back to the full "Family Channel", not just "Family": http://www.astral.com/en/press-room?kw=family%20channel (goes back to July 14, 2008)
The CRTC's Financial Summaries explicitly state this: "Family Channel (formerly Family), The Family Channel Inc." Compare 2007 (Family) and 2008 (formerly Family).
I nominate that we move the article back. Msgohan (talk) 21:33, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
Feature films
[edit]Given that Family is licensed as a premium service, and given the structure that premium channels have with feature films (typically carrying films from certain studios), does Family have any film output deals with studios other than Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group? TVtonightOKC (talk) 01:17, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
Original Airing
[edit]On the page, it says that Family first premiered at 6 am Eastern and Mountain on its first day. Considering that there are only eastern and pacific divisions to Family, wouldn't it have premiered at 6 am pacific? I lived in the mountain time zone for five years, and none of our shows played at the time they were "supposed" to be at... If you still really want to include the time it started at in the mountain time zone, it would have been 7 am, not 6. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sailor7sakura (talk • contribs) 05:17, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

Outdated logo?
[edit]The logo used on the current website is rather different from the one in the article, but I cannot find any confirmation of a rebrand on TV (unlike for the sister channels). Mdrnpndr (talk) 01:56, 12 May 2016 (UTC)

Requested move 13 November 2017
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: moved. Old title redirected to dab page, The Family Channel. Jenks24 (talk) 11:34, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
Family Channel → Family Channel (Canada) Family Channel (Canadian TV network) – Given the other networks listed at The Family Channel and given this one too is frequently going to be referred to in running text with a definite article, whether it's the official name or not, I think the disambiguator is required. -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:44, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
- move to Family Channel (Canadian TV network) - per WP:NC-BC. -- Netoholic @ 13:24, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, you're right. Amended. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:11, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
- Move to Family Channel (Canadian TV network) as both above. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:04, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose. This is the clear primary topic for "Family Channel", with or without an article, it dominates search results for the term, even when not in Canada, and has more than half the page views for topics on the dab page.[1] No evidence has been supplied that it is not primary. — Amakuru (talk) 16:04, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- I'm really not seeing how out of five networks of this name, this one is primary. Why is it? Is there any evidence it's the best-known of the five? As to the page views, add the other two pages linked from the dab page and Freeform (which also comes up if you search for "Family Channel") and see what you get! [2] No, this is definitely not the primary topic based on those! -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:16, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- Move to Family Channel (Canadian TV network). The only evidence yet provided that it's the primary topic turns out to be yet another example of the problem with page views. On the evidence there's no primary topic, and in any case if in doubt we should disambiguate for best overall reader experience. Andrewa (talk) 17:21, 21 November 2017 (UTC).
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
