Selection criteria
[edit]The Presto Classical webshop lists 32 CD recordings of this opera, and also numerous recordings on DVD and Blu-Ray. What are the criteria for selecting the ones listed here, and omitting the others? Regards. 81.83.134.5 (talk) 19:01, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
- I'd say that, beyond not including "bootleg" recordings from illegitimate sources, there are no specific criteria. That said, do we want 32 recordings? Probably not, but a balance over various time periods where notable singers are featured, is generally preferable. When a list gets too long, it becomes a separate article linked at the appropriate place in the main article. Viva-Verdi (talk) 22:34, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation. However, if non-completeness is not an issue (which, to be honest, I consider to be slighlty un-encyclopaedic), the article title should read "SELECTED discography". Regards. 94.227.38.19 (talk) 12:19, 15 February 2014 (UTC)
- I get your point. However, by consensus, WP Opera moved away from using "Selected" some years ago, so maybe the ultimate aim is to be complete, but sans bootleggers.... Feel free to add more. As I assume that you've discovered, operadis has been the reference source, although it has not been updated in a year or so now due to the death of the compiler.
