Removal of the following as not notable "*Timothy Ly graduated Fairvale in 2002. Mr Ly founded Rumble Pictures, a local movie production company, as well as completing a martial arts feature Maximum Choppage round 2. He has also starred in numerous short films including tv work for SBS with Downtown Rumble." Timothy Ly's work is substantial and understated here. The founding of the movie production company in Fairfield and it's work across Australia is known and substantial and entirely due to Tim's work. Also the feature length movie Maximum Choppage round 2 took 4 years to make on no budget and involved 100's of people. It has been shown by Channel 9 and at significant cultural festivals. I will research the notable rules to correct the mistake of the removal. DDB (talk) 18:25, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Revert non-notables

[edit]

The two former students have been removed because they fail to meet any notability requirements. Please find some reliable sources that indicate how they are notable before they are re-added. With regard to Mr Ly, it will need to be shown how he meets the requirements at WP:FILMMAKER. Please address these concerns before re-adding the text. Thanks. Timothy Ly is quoted and admired in the martial arts community. Jacky Chan's coming visit to Fairfield is at Tim's request. (cf Quest for Jacky Chan). Tim's work has been showcased internationally at film festivals and shown to the wider community through major broadcasters like Channel 9 (Maximum Choppage round 2) and ABC/SBS (Downtown Rumble. Maximum Choppage was the first home grown martial arts feature film in Australia since the late '70s. The television series is being developed right now. The only reason Maximum Choppage is not on blu ray dvd or high definition tv is that it was shot on no budget with a low def camera. On MC2 he wrote, directed and produced the feature film over 5 years from age 18. He held together a team of 30 (correction, 100's)DDB (talk) 15:13, 23 June 2012 (UTC) with no money and produced a remarkable piece of work. And it is continuing. I'm reverting again. Please address the notability requirements with reliable sources. Bleakcomb (talk) 22:50, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
like being shown on SBS and produced by the ABC (Downtown Rumble) http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/media/s2434418.htm ? It casted Craig Anderson (actor). It has an IMDB listing http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2372873/ Maximum Choppage round 2 has IMDB listing http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1466981/ A cinephile listing http://www.heroic-cinema.com/reviews/maximum-choppage-round-2-2008/ listed for view at http://www.1channel.ch/watch-2387631-Maximum-Choppage-Round-2 Shown outdoors for moon festival http://www.fairfieldchampion.com.au/news/local/news/general/moon-festival-movies-go-outdoors-for-fans/1630560.aspx Running Shortcuts film festival .. http://www.fairfieldchampion.com.au/news/local/news/entertainment/enter-films-now-get-cracking-deadline-looms/1429774.aspx I will find more if I continue to look. Thanks for those. IMDB is not normally regarded as a reliable source for wikipedia. The heroic cinema blog entry appears in a relatively unknown blog. The requirements call for "multiple independent periodical articles or reviews". The rest of point 3 at WP:FILMMAKER requires "The person has created, or played a major role in co-creating, a significant or well-known work, or collective body of work,". None of Mr Ly's work has yet become significant or well-known. Until it does please don't re-add the text. Please check WP:LISTPEOPLE, WP:ALMAMATER and WP:Namechecking. Also write the article first; people who are truly notable are well entitled to an article on them. A bluelink takes away the notability question. Bleakcomb (talk) 04:10, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
