[edit]Talk: FPG-9 Significance of article
Cub Scouts in the 4th and 5th grades (Webelos) learn about some of the physics of flight, and building this plane is an exciting way to do this. Once I did it, and one of the kids piped up, "we already did it in school." They were happy to do it again.
The older boys in the Boy Scouts have a merit badge to do for Aviation, and the pages link back and forth to the wiki site that helps the boys in doing the official work. For the kids that can't get to fly IN a plane, they can MAKE a plane and this is an option.
Other kids and their parents will no doubt come across the site.
Such activities no doubt have contributed to the significant number of engineers, pilots and astronauts who have been Scouts.
