Consideration of Compassionate Cannibalism?
Hello there! I have read some literature regarding exo/endocannibalism especially within the Wari people and feel there is a lack of inclusion of the cultural significance of cannibalism as an act of compassion. The assumption is that the cannibalistic actions are out of anger, rage, and aggressive warfare, but the Wari people acknowledge the consumption of another person or even exchange of bodily fluids is ceremonious and carries an element of respect and power that is not mentioned in this article. Even in the case of killing their enemy, upon consumption of their flesh, they are merging their souls rather than allowing the body to decay by means of the earth. Shouldn't this perspective be included rather than emphasizing the exotic and placing the Wari people (and others who practice various forms of cannibalism) in a category of the occult?--Mswintosky (talk) 16:14, 13 September 2020 (UTC)
