Euphemism or what? We need clarity.

[edit]

This article talks of "rest rooms", "Men's [rooms]", and "Women's rooms". Are these bathrooms/toilets, or what? We need clarity, not euphemism. It's conceivable, in such an old and fancy house, that those terms mean something other than bathroom/toilet—but how shall we know? —President Lethe (talk) 16:45, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The addition of a link on presidential and First Lady navboxes to this page, and the addition of two large but container for this page is being discussed and would effect this article. For interested editors, thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 22:36, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Any mention of Joe Biden in the Executive Residence?

[edit]

Joe Biden is not yet mentioned on the page, discovered by CommonKnowledgeCreator. One ABC News report mentions Biden working in the Executive Residence while he had covid in 2022. Is this mentionable on the page? Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 04:56, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would say no, but we've already got pages of trivia so I'm sure it will creep in soon. GA-RT-22 (talk) 05:04, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Ga-RT-22. Any other source to at least give Biden a line on the page? To do so I've added a mention of the current occupants, Joe and Jill Biden, in the lead (since it seems reasonable to name and link present notable residents in an article about a residential home). Randy Kryn (talk) 05:53, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to revert that on the basis of WP:LEAD. If you want to add it somewhere in the article, with a source, go ahead, but please re-word it per MOS:RELTIME. GA-RT-22 (talk) 13:19, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the note GA-RT-22. I'll lobby a bit for a lead mention. Since this is an article about a residence, wouldn't it be prudent and accurate to list the current notable residents in the lead? The residence is not just a historic building but a literal home, and these are the people that call it home (until January, when former or new residents will move in). It seems applicable for an article about a home to mention any current notable residents in the lead, and seems it would be a good practice as time goes by. Thanks. Sure, but the lead summarizes the article. Put it somewhere in the article, with a source, then add a sentence or two to the lead. GA-RT-22 (talk) 15:35, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Have tucked Joe and Jill Biden into 'See also' as the current residents. As Biden is the only president who was not mentioned on the page, 'See also' applies and seems as good a place as any. Randy Kryn (talk) 15:19, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
