Merge
[edit]@Bluenosescholar:, since the new part here is e-proctoring, how about adding that section to Exam invigilator and then redirecting this page? – Thjarkur (talk) 20:16, 6 September 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for your comment re: exam proctoring v. exam invigilator. They are two different topics. The former is about the practice and process of exam proctoring, which is related to academic misconduct in terms of policy, procedure, and academic misconduct case management. In turn, this is related to higher education governance, management and quality assurance. The latter is about a career choice. It would be inaccurate to conflate them, which is why I have noted at the top of the e-proctoring page that those interested in the career should see the other page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bluenosescholar (talk • contribs) 20:30, 6 September 2020 (UTC) (Moved from my talk page – Thjarkur (talk) 20:33, 6 September 2020 (UTC))
- Support merge, on the grounds that the topics are so closely related that they are best discussed together. An exam invigilator carries out exam proctoring, and both pages discuss the process of proctoring/invigilation. Hence, they should be merged on the grounds of overlap, short text and context. - Support: In my experience, an invigilator is a person who intermittently performs this oversight role, but could scarcely be said to make a career of it. The broader more British career concept is covered in the Proctor page. I suspect the predominance of the verb invigilate rather than proctor varies by country. Perhaps agreement should be reached on an appropriate name for a merged article that satisfies the majority. DMBanks1 (talk) 22:39, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
