Regarding the medical equipment tag, I'm not sure anyone is using this technique in a medical setting. It might be that its current applications are limited to research.

Changes, sources, etc

I'm not sure I agree with the original statement "...in which a series of fMRI images are time-locked to a stimulus presentation and averaged together over many trials". Although this was the original formulation of ER-fMRI, the meaning of event-related is more general these days.

I think the new review by Thomas T. Liu "The development of event-related fMRI designs" might be quite useful here.

Although true, I'm not sure how useful the comparison to ERP/EEG is. "The relationship of the technique to fMRI is analogous to the relationship between Event-related potential (ERP) data and Electroencephalogram (EEG) data."

I'm happy for people to put this stuff back! I just thought I'd put some effort into making this topic a bit more complete Lionfish0 (talk) 10:34, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
