"The latin name of the genus means "new iron tree". " seems questionable, it seems to mean "true star tree". This needs further investigation. Nadiatalent (talk) 01:49, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. Sideros is Greek, so Latin was a false clue. Nadiatalent (talk) 15:35, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Monotypic?

[edit]

This page claims E. zwageri is monotypic, and Google searches of the 4 species named on this article page (out of a claimed 9) reveal only synonyms of either E. zwageri or of a taxon now placed in a different genus (e.g. see here). It seems even the basics of this article need rewriting. PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 04:43, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

About E. zwageri, I think that first page might be saying in a cryptic way that there are no subspecies or varieties within E. zwageri, which is a bit weird when other species names have been incorporated into it, so they are presumably utterly identical. That book is very recent, 2005, and looks like a very good source to me; The Plant List is also quite explicit that there is only one accepted species and one "unresolved". I've altered the article accordingly, though I wasn't sure about the species synonyms, and whether they should be included in the taxobox of a genus. Please do correct anything that may not be written in a strictly correct way. PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 06:01, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've added synonyms to the species page. Perhaps it is premature to merge them into a monotypic genus page, if that other species name is still unresolved. Even IPNI doesn't list 9 species, so I'm still puzzled where that number came from; perhaps it was a typo. Nadiatalent (talk) 20:58, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
