[edit]Do we have an image of the version of this painting at El Escorial? There is a different version of the same subject by Tintoretto in the Prado (right).
This title may need disambiguating, perhaps as Esther before Ahasuerus (Tintoretto). As well as the Gentileschi, there is an Esther before Ahasuerus by Poussin: es:Ester ante Asuero (Poussin), and many others at commons:Category:Paintings of Esther before Ahasuerus. 213.205.240.181 (talk) 12:13, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
- We only disambiguate when another treatment gets an article in English. Johnbod (talk) 15:54, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
- Indeed: we already have Esther before Ahasuerus (Artemisia Gentileschi), so why is this painting the primary topic? It should be a disambiguation page.
- (And that is before we take account of the Tintoretto in the Prado which will need disambiguating from this one if/when it gets written up; or the Poussin in the Hermitage which already has an article in Spanish that could easily be translated; and then there is the there is a Veronese in the Louvre and another in the Uffizi ... you get the picture: this was a relatively popular topic, so again why is this Tintoretto the primary topic?) 213.205.240.181 (talk) 16:22, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
- Typically, it's been like that for some years, but yes it needs disam from the Gentileschi (not that that will remotely serve the reader) & I will do that when it's a few days off the main page. Johnbod (talk) 16:59, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
- I think it would "serve the reader" to keep the link to Sebastian Isepp (father of Martin Isepp, incidentally) and consolidate the two-letter footnote "RC" rather than repeat it six separate times, but clearly you disagree. Revert, revert, revert. Perhaps I am better off just posting to talk pages, rather than wasting my time trying to edit "your" articles.
- It would be nice to have an image of the version in the Escorial. This (from a commercial site selling prints) is the best I can find. 213.205.240.181 (talk) 19:06, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
