Writings

How would you do it? We won't find any references describing his books, so we would have to just write a superficial translation to English of what the books discuss based on their titles. Picture

I've been looking for some available pictures for this article, but have not found any that are obviously free. However, I came across this website, which includes two 1940s pictures of Gjems-Onstad. One (near the top) a screenshot of him operating a radio transmitter from the documentary Det grodde fram, and near the bottom a regular portrait of him in uniform. In that case, would it be possible to use this image from 1973? It is probably the most appropriate image to use if we can only use one, since it's from the year he became a Member of Parliament (looks pretty official too). If you could help explain a bit further how I specifically add a picture under the policy you cite it would be appreciated; its pretty complicated and I don't want to break any rules. (By the way, isn't there some sort of policy under which the old 1940s images could be used anyway; at least the portrait which I can't imagine there's any applicable copyright for.) —Filippusson (t.) 20:22, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In the lede: the redlink to Lark is confusing. I'm not against redlinks, I think they're good for encouraging article-creation, but this one is a subject unfamiliar to most English-speaking readers, so you should either create the article or explain briefly it in the sentence. Done

- He was certainly not a member of the Conservative Party at this time; he was a member of Anders Lange's Party, which I think is pretty clear in the text. A few more general questions:

How did Gjems-Onstad, as an anti-communist, compare with other resistance fighters? Were others more friendly to the left?
How was his Rhodesian diplomacy received in Norway? Did most Norwegians oppose his friendliness toward the Smith regime, or were they supportive?
- I have not found any sources that directly discuss any of these issues, but I'd think most Norwegians would not look particularly kindly upon his activities with regards to Rhodesia, South Africa etc. In that respect he was definitely more on the fringe than in the mainstream. When it comes to the anti-communism issue, it is more difficult. Ever since the war, there has been an ever-ongoing issue about how communist resistance members, according to some, have been neglected in official Norwegian WWII history. The anti-communist faction in the would-be social democratic Labour Party (which dominated Norway for decades after the war) won the post-war ideological struggle in the party, and per se anti-communism has been pretty mainstream in Norway. —Filippusson (t.) 22:21, 2 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
