Technology
[edit]I am substantially changing this entry to reflect the actual technology used by this project. Rather than using a direct coal liquefaction scheme, it appears almost certain that the technology is actually employing indirect liquefaction via syngas production and reforming to Fischer-Tropsch liquids. The current text of the article is misleading, and the articles cited purporting to show the type of technology used do not adequately provide justification for direct coal liquefaction technology being employed. 206.16.109.32 (talk) 22:40, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- This is not actually clear. This source that "The plant will use Shell’s indirect coal liquefaction technology", while this source says that "it will be the largest facility in the world producing liquids from coal using a technology known as direct gasification." The same source refers to Wang Yulong, deputy manager in charge of the coal liquefying arm of the Liquefied Coal Oil Company of Shenhua Group Corporation Limited, who says: "Unlike South Africa's Sasol which produces transport fuel from coal in several stages, our project in Erdos will produce liquids from coal directly." So it is really not clear if the plant uses direct or indirect process. Beagel (talk) 05:54, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
