Article
[edit]- However, someone would be more than likely to type in Hanoch when searching for the main entry, which is the original Hanoch/Enoch(s). Hanoch Levin is known by his full (first & last) name, while Hanoch is known only by his single name... Someone typing Hanoch Levin will find that page; someone typing Hanoch will find this page. I see no reason to split. --Eliyak 14:47, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
- You could make the Hanoch page have a list of names with Hanoch in them, and then say "Hanoch can also refer to the prophet Enoch", or something like that. It's just that currently, this article seems to fail WP:DAB. Mo-Al 15:46, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
It would make more sense to have a link at the top of the Enoch page, to Hanoch, and vice versa. RAP
Comment
[edit]Removed from the article page:
Enoch is a very interesting person. I went on this site to find information on Enoch and i found a lot thank you to the people who helped write this!74.60.95.249 03:37, 26 September 2006 (UTC)KAYLEE
IMHO we should merge the two disambig pages. Any objections? Str1977 (smile back) 09:06, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Pseudonym of Joseph Smith?
[edit]Was this also the pseudonym of Mormonism's Joseph Smith? [1]
- Yes, indeed that was Joseph Smith's "codename." I'm not sure how it would fit into the article, but it may be an interesting historical note. Surv1v4l1st (Talk|Contribs) 23:44, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
Enoch
[edit]Who was Enoch?
Enoch walked with God and he dieth not for God, took him.
It is written:
Upon the earth was no man created like Enoch, for he was taken from the earth.
He was as the morning star in the midst of a cloud, and as the moon at the full: as the sun shining upon the temple of the most High, and as the rainbow giving light in the bright clouds, and as the flower of roses in the spring of the year, as lilies by the rivers of waters, and as the branches of the frankincense tree in the time of summer and as a cypress tree which groweth up to the clouds.
The first follower of the Law was Enoch, the first of the healers, of the wise, the happy, the glorious, the strong, who drove back sickness and drove back death.
Enoch, the man of the Law, the wisest of all beings, the most glorious, the most worthy of invocations amongst all beings, the most worthy of glorification amongst all beings.
Who first thought what is good, who first spoke what is good, who first did what is good.
Excerpt: The Ancient Word Series, The Gospel of Peace
Enoch practiced no Magic.
Enoch was the only person that lived before the Great Flood, was taken up to Heaven and saw the demise of all flesh by the Great Deludge.
It was Enoch, the chosen Scribe of YHWH (GOD) that details the facts of creation.
Read the Book(s) of Enoch and the accounting of Enoch in the Gospel of Peace then you will know that he was the First Holy Prophet of God.
Sons and Daughters of Adam that walk in the path of Enoch the Holy Prophet and Scribe of YHWH are ENOCHIAN.
Enoch Born Twice In Genesis
[edit]It is important to be clear that there was Enoch of Genesis 4:16 (First born of Cain, who was first born of Adam) and the Enoch of Genesis 5:18, born of Jared.
My purpose for writing this is a result of what I read when I typed in "Enoch" in Wikipedia..
"Enoch, the son of Jared, a great-grandfather of Noah, and father of Methuselah (Genesis 5:1-18)"
This can be misleading as this was not "Enoch the first". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eph612 (talk • contribs) 15:48, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Enoch as Bible author?
[edit]There is some discussion among religion scholars that Enoch could have aided or assisted the original authors of the Scriptures. To verify this, we would have to look at the historical-cultural context of the Torah more in depth. 69.157.233.40 (talk)
- Considering he was antediluvian figure, it would seem very unlikely. However, if you have some reliable sources, it would be valuable. Surv1v4l1st (Talk|Contribs) 23:42, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
City of Enoch
[edit]I read something somewhere about the City of Enoch ; this needs to be referenced at one point. ADM (talk) 13:41, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Split
[edit]This isn't a disambiguation page, yet it belongs to the DisambigProject... and it isn't formatted like a religious figure article, but alot of it is. It needs to be split apart into correctly formed articles. 76.66.200.95 (talk) 03:59, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, a malformed MOS:DAB, certainly. The WP:MOS does not permit opening or lead paragraphs for them. Enoch does not have a WP:PRIME otherwise it would be the title of an actual article. This also eliminates the possibility of a MOS:DABINT at the top of this DAB. Because of this I'm forced to remove the existing lead, but I"ll put it here to save the valuable translations:
“ | Enoch (from Hebrew: חֲנוֹךְ, Modern: H̱anokh, Tiberian: Ḥănôḵ; Greek: Ενώχ, Enōkh; Arabic Name: إينوخ Muslim usage; أخنوخ in Arab Christian usage) "initiated, dedicated, disciplined") is a Hebrew name. | ” |
